  2. Good get, Mike! I wonder if anyone here would be interested?

  4. Haven't heard this 'complete' set but I'm sure it's great. Not sure of it's availability, though. Ella and Duke Cote D'Azur Concerts On Verve, 8 disks.
  5. Finally got around to watching the LZ segment. I thought ALL the performances were well done. Some interesting moments: Grohl drumming, and the drummer singing Kid Rock, for being there. I never paid any attention to him before. Tasty arrangement, too. Lenny and his band for doing (and not over-doing) his 60s thing The whole Stairway bit, and Plant getting 'emotional' Bonnie jumping out of her seat for the last 2 numbers Letterman 'hanging' with Page Yo Yo Ma grooving to Stairway
  6. They've been getting a LOT of press for the past year or so. I saw them at SXSW last March and was underwhelmed, actually. Like you said, Jim, I found them very limited in scope and overall talent. Glad to know it isn't just me.
  7. Seems like they've cleaned up the "per track" pricing for the most part. Albums are usually priced between $5 and $7 regardless of the number of tracks.
  8. I still use it a lot. It's not anywhere near the bargain it used to be, but I have an annual subscription which brings the price down somewhat. In most cases it's still a little cheaper than other online services.
  9. Better yet, I'll take "After Bathing at Baxter's"
  10. Tomorrow at SFJazz: Dave Holland Prism Dave Holland, bass Craig Taborn, electric & acoustic pianos Kevin Eubanks, guitar Eric Harland, drums
  11. Sounds good, Aggggdgggggggigggggggggcggggggkggggggg!

    Donald Byrd

I was rather late to Byrd appreciation (my first exposure being his pop/Blackbyrds stuff), but eventually became a HUGE fan of his BN stuff, particularly the live Half Note and Mosaic sets.

    Lee Morgan

He did a lot of great work with the Jazz Messengers as well as side work with Wayne Shorter, Hank Mobley and Jackie McLean. Don't forget the classic "Blue Trane".
  15. I'm amazed at all the guitar variations that Fender puts out. It seems that there's really no "standard" anything out there.
  16. Is that the one with Beach Boys on it? Yep.
  17. Yep.........that looks "burnt" alright! Interesting. So, that's a 6-string bass 'sort of' modeled after a Jazzmaster? and with a trem????
  18. There's the tune "TM" on the 'Waves' album (does that count?)
  19. Lon, is this the Strat you're talking about? That's a nice one, too.
  20. David, the blurbs on the Epiphone (if you believe them) are all about the originals now selling in the $10K range, since there were very few made. You should'a bought one!
  21. Lon, check out this "Select" Tele! (outta my price range, though)
  22. Thanks, Lon! [sorry - doesn't help, though]
  23. You made the right choice! It's a game-changer.
  24. A unique talent, for sure.
