  1. Same thing. You're thinking of "biennial". ... or bi-sexual.
  2. Just saw Lydia Loveless. Little girl with a BIG voice.
  3. I'm still waiting for someone to find some previously unknown Miles/Jimi jams.
  4. the fact is, unfortunately, that Bobby is quite frail but i'm SO glad that he got out to hear his buddies play all that good music. i'm hearing the same group here in L.A. tomorrow night. That's what I thought. I know he got to spend some time backstage which must have been fun for him. Enjoy the show! Nothing groundbreaking, but the music is top-shelf.
  5. Saw Bobby tonight in attendance at an SFJazz event: Javon Jackson, Mulgrew Miller, Jimmy Cobb, Nat Reeves. He was looking quite frail. I don't know if he was just having a bad night or what.
  6. Friday night: Javon Jackson tenor saxophone Mulgrew Miller piano Nat Reeves bass Jimmy Cobb drums
  7. I downloaded it to my eyeFone, but couldn't get it to work. I kept getting an error message.
  8. , Lon. Watched some of the Pearl Jam/American Masters show on PBS last night. Expected to like it, but too much navel-gazing and too long. Couldn't watch the whole thing.
  9. Guesting on the View, Good Morning America and Letterman this coming week. Out of CONTROL!
  10. Have a great one!
  11. I've watched it. . . She's good. The show. .. not so good, at least not something I'll watch regularly. To be honest.........I wouldn't either. I generally don't like network (or most any TV for that matter) at ALL. but THANKS for watching, Lon!
  12. Check out Suburgatory, Wed on ABC. I say this because my friends' daughter (Jane Levy) is co-starring in it as Tessa, and she's pretty good. I don't usually watch network and definitely not sitcoms, but this seems like it might have some traction. What's amazing is that she's a newbie. Only had one "real" acting gig before this - a small part on Showtime's Shameless, which I didn't like at all. Suddenly she's a lead on network prime time. Crazy.
  13. Glad to see this thread back (Lon/David). I haven't bought the Parker........yet, but pretty much committed to the seller. I got him down to $500, which seems reasonable. Still aren't many on the market to get a good grip on the "value", but what the hell. Sounds like quite a nice little collection you've got, Lon. I'm jealous. It's amazing how many variations of the classic Fenders there are. They seem to be constantly tinkering with them.
  14. Don't remember, but it's a great tune. I only have this on vinyl, and my LPs are packed away in boxes these days.
  15. Yes............you do!
  16. How does he compare with Edgar Buchanan? McCoy has a stronger right hand.
  17. Saw McCoy tonight. He's still got it. Moving a little slowly these days, but has a nice group with Chris Potter holding down the tenor seat. Closed the set with a rousing version of Walk Spirit, which I did not expect to hear.
  18. What about Bob Seger's horn player: Alto Reed?
  19. Fair enough, but I think this is some of Jimi's strongest live recordings. Everything seems to be clicking for the band. So I'm happy to have as much as we have.
  20. Hey..........I liked Joe Morgan with Jon!
  21. This IS an awesome set.
  22. Sunday: McCoy Tyner piano José James vocals Chris Potter tenor saxophone Gerald Cannon bass Joe Farnsworth drums
  23. Haven't missed it........it's 10/19 - hasn't happened yet!
  24. yes, he's using oxygen all the time now. he's still got his chops though. aside from his health problems, he was dealt a very heavy blow recently with the passing of Eddie Marshall. Dumb question of the day: who is/was Eddie Marshall? Eddie was a staple of Bay Area jazz for decades and, with James Leary, the virtual house band at Keystone Korner.
  25. New bio of the Keystone Korner coming out soon.
