  1. Also saw George a few times: in '79 at the Keystone Korner w/Hilton, Eddie Moore, Herbie Lewis. Again in '81 at the KK with the same band except Higgins instead of Moore. '87 at Bradley's with Hilton and Ray Drummond.
  2. For a little insight into the workings of the NCAA, read Joe Nocera's recent series of Editorials in the NY Times.
  3. Curtis Amy's Select, disks 2 & 3.
  4. Somewhat reminiscent of Ken Lay's departure.
  5. Steven discusses his PRS guitar(s)
  6. Things are actually looking UP! Don't know if anyone noticed, but Bobby recently performed in NYC and will be at Yoshi's this coming weekend. This lengthy article in today's SF Chron was great to see. Bobby Hutcherson passionate about music, life
  7. Didn't know you could share a list on Spotify........nice.
  8. "Blonde puts Starbucks in head-to-head competition with mass-market brands like McDonald's Corp and Dunkin' Donuts, which each have posted robust sales of with their own milder brews." That's a GOOD thing??? Sounds undrinkable to me.
  9. Hope you're seeing some music (or playing) tonight!
  10. I've only seen him once, and "bland" was my impression. But considering all the comments here and the fact that he IS a first call guitarist, I should revisit some of his albums.
  11. I'll count anything above a nonet... The Grand Wazoo
  12. Not sure how tightly you want to define "one-off," but here are a few. Tom Harrell - Times Mirror McCoy Tyner - Uptown/Downtown Johnny Griffin - Big Soul Band Charles Tolliver - until his recent re-emergence had only released 2 BB albums (AFAIK).
  13. Getting video ads for Showtime's "Shameless"
  14. All those albums (Live/Evil, Bitches Brew, Silent Way, etc) were produced by Teo with a specific result in mind. Whether or not they work is up to you, but as albums they're worth having because that's how the artists (Miles AND Teo) wanted you to hear the music. That's not to say that it isn't great having the "complete" extra material - I have those, too.
  15. Just got turned on to this and watched the first episode from last season on Netflix. Very funny.
  16. Different era, but 'big band' nonetheless. "Big Band" Joe Henderson
  17. Interesting you mention Kuhn as I was just reading some notes today talking about how he was with Trane in the classic quartet before McCoy came on board (never recorded).
  18. Grachan Moncur III Mosaic Select, disk #2
  19. Congrats, but you should have asked your wife to hold off for another 22 minutes so you could make the news for first baby of 2012.
  20. Have a good one, team! (for most of you, it already happened)
  21. Joe Farrell "Outback" (CTI) w/Elvin Jones, Chick Corea, Buster Williams on eMusic for $2.24
  22. Figuratively speaking:
  23. This list works for ME! Good one, Rooster.
