Listening to Outback right now. Just noticed how closely "Bleeding Orchid" is to "500 Miles High". Joe comes REALLY close to playing that theme on several occasions.

I've seen the Cookers a couple of times. A must-see whenever possible! Saw Holland's Overtone Quartet last night. Another must-see - they know how to cook, too. And for anyone who hasn't experienced Eric Harland yet, he's a monster. With this lineup was able to show his composition skills as well. Very much a five-tool player (to mis-use baseball-speak).

I must have gotten a one-day sale or something, but I just ordered "Apocalypse Now - 3 disk Full Disclosure Edition" Blu-ray for $18.49 from Amazon. It's already reverted to a more normal price of $39.99.

Watched Three Days of the Condor on TCM last night for the 100th time. Doesn't get played on non-commercial, un-edited TV that often.

60s here in SF, too. Been like this most of the "winter" (if you could call it that).

He's on the schedule to play at SXSW in Austin next month. I hope to catch him there.

I think that's what happened to Yoshi's. They went WAY over the top when they expanded into SF - could have toned it down quite a bit. They've re-tooled their programming and have as much (if not more) non-jazz artists as jazz these days. Part of that is the economy, I'm sure.
