  1. Bring it ON, Jim!
  2. It would be nice if they added a little PUNCH to it. Different energy, but some nice fire by Bill Chase here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7JyOfvwIZE
  3. IIRC, the violin was on some kind of educational or performance loan from a foundation. The loser (literally) is just a student. Really? They would let someone take something like that home with them?
  4. Weird - a couple of us were listening to Sam Rivers just last week.
  5. If you have to decide if you are excited u ain't. Yeah. Exactly. I couldn't tell you how it compares. He always seemed like an interesting character to me, but I don't know that much about his music. I liked this one.
  6. I was wondering: if someone can afford a $170K musical instrument, why do they need to take a bus at all?
  7. In Buckaroo Bonzai
  8. Chrome: fast, easy, efficient
  9. Those things would be great. BTW, "complete discography" should definitely include OOP albums, too.
  10. Still waiting for the Max Roach album.
  11. I took a jazz history course with Chuck Israels at Brooklyn College in 1974, and Chuck went on about how brilliant a soloist Thad was. He was talking in terms of melodic/thematic improvisers, who he felt were superior to artists who simply blew on changes, and I think the context was Monk recordings, where he said Thad and Newk were perfect for Monk's music, and he denigrated Charlie Rouse by comparison, IIRC. One of my favorite Mosaic boxes, actually.
  12. The Billionaire Who Loved Bluegrass
  13. Sam Rivers Complete BN (not the Select) - disk #2
  14. You're stuttering. ha ha ha That's what I usually look at. I've noticed that prices have come down quite a bit over the last few years, though. Exceptions being the Maynard and Thad/Mel sets, which still seem to command premium $$.
  15. Is that THE Steven Wilson? Not exactly an unusual name, you know.
  16. Wow, that's a great deal for a LOT of great music! Thanks for the heads-up! 6 hours of music - THAT'S pretty intense! That's about $1/hour (worth it!)
  17. £5??!!? Damn! I only got $5!
  18. I wouldn't expect anything less.
  19. This morning on NPR's Weekend Edition - Saturday
  20. In the annals of badly tuned pianos that one is right up there with Don Schlitten's Prestige piano of circa 1968 ! Or Stanley Cowell's piano on Charles Tolliver's Slug's set.
  21. same here. the only problem is limitations the stations might have with streaming. there are always blackouts while the squeezebox is rebuffering. i still don't know if that's a problem on the station's side or on the squeezebox's. Or your network. Right........I haven't had any buffering problems, myself.
