  1. The Boss, in particular, seems like a handy little device that has LOTS of features.
  2. Anybody have any experience with (relatively) inexpensive recording equipment? I would just like to have something to record ideas and possibly a little multi-tracking. A couple that I have been looking at online are: Boss BR-600 Tascam GT-R1
  3. I'll take one, too! Anyone got a spare $1,800 for me??
  4. Isn't it 'Invaders From Mars,' the B&W film with the spaceship drilling into the land behind the house and everyone keeps falling into the hole and having an operation to implant a device to control them?. That's the one! I saw that many times over on TV as a kid, when they had Chiller Theater and my local station would play the same movie about 3/4 times in a row. That was another movie that scared the crap out of me as a kid. There was the creepy-looking head in the glass bowl also. Yeah, that one scared me, too. Very creapy, somehow.
  5. How come most of the movies named here are cheap sci-fi flicks?
  6. I like Joe Beck on those albums. Apparently they're sampled quite frequently, too.
  7. I remember really liking this as a kid. It doesn't hold up as well as I would have liked, but it IS a John Huston film.
  8. HELLyeah!
  9. No "Follow Your Heart" from the Joe Farrell Quartet album? (which also should be on CD)
  10. That's a feature that has been showing up in a lot of sites these days, so you should probably get used to it. You can still type in whatever you want and ignore the suggestions. BTW, anybody download "Chrome" today?
  11. Been listening to "The Adams Effect" lately. Smokin' album - especially considering it was his last and he had only 14 months left.
  12. Wow. Excellent. Looking forward to THAT! "John the Gun", "Late November", awesome ...
  13. I was (and still am) a big WH fan. He was one of the first guys I checked out, and I played in a group in high school that played a bunch of Crusaders tunes. Wayne was a big time disciple of JJ (as most trombonists are) and had that big, fat sound that drew me in. I still listen to the Crusaders now and then. WH is a soulful MF! I bet Wayne has a closet!
  14. Interesting article about Rickenbacker.
  15. Anyone mention Wayne Henderson? He had some chops back in the day ...
  16. Mentioned in posts #29 and #32 by Mssrs. Sangrey and Tapscott, respectively. Most of the greats have been included already, but there are some (all greatly admired by yours truly) who haven't yet been mentioned: Jack Jenney (famous for his solo on Stardust w/Artie Shaw, acknowleged influence of JJ and Fontana) Vic Dickenson Trummy Young Willie Dennis Hal Crook Tommy Turk Eddie Bert Butter Burgess Britt Woodman Quentin Jackson .....and don't forget our esteemed board member Greg Waits! EDIT: Holy crap, I just realized no one's mentioned SLIDE HAMPTON yet! One of the greats for sure........ What about that McKee dude? Can he play his way out of a closet?
  17. just got back from Vegas. 102/daytime 85/nighttime ... but it's DRY heat.
  18. Just saw those at Amoeba today. Looked interesting, but like the rest of you, I'll wait for sale pricing on the deluxe sets.
  19. The lineup for this year's HSBF is online now. Another astounding collection of artists - mark your calendars.
  20. That Cropper/Cavaliere album is the surprise "hit" of the year, IMO.
  21. Hey, Noj, I've been on a blues jag, too. There's lots of good stuff on eMu. Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Deborah Coleman (check her out), Luther Allison, Jimmy Dawkins ... to name a few. I would even toss in the Jack Bruce/Robin Trower album - very bluesy.
  22. Nice leasure suit, Stan!
  23. That's it?? I've probably got 700-800.
