  1. Byrd/Adams. Really an underrated set. Very enjoyable.
  2. The major stock markets are closed on Tuesday, too. This is much more rare than the USPS I would think. It's very unusual for the markets to be closed more than 3 straight days.
  3. I think you nailed it. To be that loaded and not quite 28 and live in SF. He might even be able to afford a place of his own now. At least a 1200 square footer if nothing else. I'll rent him my garage.
  4. Not to worry, Noj. Dodgers got Schmidt. A better team overall, too. I like Zito crossing the bay, though.
  5. I had "Fearless" when it came out, too. I like it a lot at the time, but eventually traded it in for some reason. These albums have recently shown up on eMusic. I DL-d "Fearless" and found that I still like it and have heard lots of stuff that totally went over my head the first time around. John Wetton contributed to this album, as well. "Bandstand" is in my 'Save for later' qeue.
  6. This is a very interesting and well-organized collection. Worth picking up. Not sure if it's still in print, but either way, probably not getting a premium price second-hand.
  7. Cover sux. But that's OK.....I'll be getting this one "post haste" when it's released.
  8. This has to be #1.
  9. Bunch of new BNs. Hutcherson Byrd Morgan Mobley Silver Hubbard Dorham Check it out.
  10. You should be in and outta there in 1/2 a day. Don't forget to "ice"! Good luck ...

    Pepper Adams

"Mean What You Say" and "Live at the Half Note" would be my favorites of the bunch. You can frequently pick up the Byrd/Adams Mosaic for close to list price on ebay. Sometimes LESS. It doesn't seem to pull in the usual premium prices that OOP Mosaics usually get.
  12. El Conn-a-roooooooooooski!!!
  13. This one?
  14. OK.......I put MY $.02 in. (well a little more than THAT, actually)
  15. I'll be there, too. Check out some of the suggestions on this JazzCorner thread.
  16. Saw it yesterday. I guess I set my sights too high. I heard so many good things about it, I ended up being a little disappointed. Also, it could have used about 20-30 minutes of editing. I liked the opening music animated sequence.
  17. Conn's the money-man. I'm sure he'll cough up some dough.
  18. Heard this last night at a friend's house in 5.1. The remastering was excellent, but in the end I just ended up wishing they would get their act together and do a definitive remaster on the original catalog. I wouldn't listen to this much if I had it myself. As the CD played, it was also too apparent that it was crafted for a "live" show. The segues, the pacing and choice of tunes leading up to a series of "hits" was just a little too formulaic.
  19. You could say that about almost any Mosaic set. It depends on how much of the artist's music you want at one time, ultimately. Of course there's also the remastering, repackaging and so forth to consider.
  20. I just found a used copy of the '05 set yesterday for $9. Not too shabby. I haven't listened to all of it yet, though.
  21. Better yet, get the "Seven Steps" box. It's got that album and all the other essential live sets from that period.
  22. I saw the show (w/o David or James, unfortunately) at Yoshi's. Great show anyway! If you're in NYC, definitely go see it. I'll be there in mid-Dec - too late for this one, I guess.
  23. "One Size Fits All" and "Roxy & Elsewhere" are must-haves from his mid-70's "George Duke/Napolean Murphy Brock" period.
