Lage seems to be almost as busy as Mary Halvorson these days. I don't know how they keep so many projects juggled at the same time.

Couldn't find much newer than about 2014, and experiencing vocal problems, but able to occasionally sing. Seems like live performances are out of the question, though.

I got to see him at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1978. Quite an experience.

I saw him several times between 1977-83. He was living in the Bay Area at the time. I first saw him singing in a little bar in Tiburon (Marin County) which was kind of amazing, and never especially crowded. But I once saw Dan Hicks there, sitting at the bar. A few years after that he was playing at the Keystone Korner.

I started using HAs last year. Pretty much in the same boat as many of you. I was having more and more trouble hearing high frequencies which is a problem with speech, music and especially noisy situations like restaurants. I'm sure much of it originated from WAY too many loud concerts over a long period of time without protection. Unfortunately my insurance covers the audiologist and hearing tests, but doesn't cover the hearing aids. I have what's considered mild to medium hearing loss. I knew 'prescription' HAs weren't going to be cheap, so I was nervous about the cost. I did a little research on the new generation of Over The Counter ones, which are definitely cheaper, but ultimately decided I should go with whatever the experts recommended right now. After all, my hearing's at stake! As it turned out they were about 1/2 as expensive as I thought they would be: ~$3,000 for a pair of Widex Moments. OTCs are about 30% less than that. These are rechargeable and come with an App that allows you to use different settings (set by the audiologist) in different situations. And you can also make your own adjustments. I think these are supposed to last 3-5 years before the battery wears out and I have to get a new pair. Hoping by then that OTCs will be even cheaper and I'll have enough experience to be able to intelligently evaluate them then.

I've seen him a number of times, too. Can't say he lit up the stage, but I don't have any problems with him. This show at Big Ears in 2022, with just him and Andrew Cyrille was pretty interesting.

That's a classic. This is the album I heard first, though. Always liked it.

That's cool. Thanks! The box set "Songs for Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts" that came out about 4 years ago was eye-opening. As much as I liked the various collections that have been rationed out over the years, to hear the entire shows back to back to back to back is an entirely different experience. Easily some of his most impressive live recordings. Lucky you! I think she's cutting back on live performing, so see her while you can. John Leventhal (her husband) on guitar is great, too.

The new reissue. Very nice album. Includes a 2nd disk of live recordings.

I remember picking up the Milestone CD box as a remainder 10-15 years ago for VERY cheap (<$20 I think?). Still have it - great collection!

Great! Didn't know that. I like hearing the "new" songs from "The Symbol Remains," which was much better than anyone could have expected.

In NY last month I saw Manet/Degas, Ed Ruscha, Picasso in Fontainebleau and an exhibit of Dietrich photos at the ICP (International Center of Photography)

Just cuz sometimes you have to listen to BOC. Nice live album, BTW.
