  1. Do you have the Gerald Wilson Mosaic? That's got some smokin' West Coast music on it as well as great players like Teddy Edwards and Harold Land. ... and it's still in print!
  2. Update 5/29 Something's been fixed. It's MUCH faster now!
  3. I always thought this was a great jazz photo.
  4. I guess Mosaic changed their mind. Maybe they noticed they have too much inventory. So I can buy it cheaper $37.50 from CDUniverse, than Mosaic ($39.00). Oh, yeahhhhhhhhhhh. You save a big $1.50!
  5. Right. I thought I read recently that Mosaic was NOT going to offer Selects to retail outlets after all.
  6. Cecil McBee - "Compassion"
  7. I saw the film about a month ago. It was a good documentary on the history of the band. Some great footage, too. Supposedly the DVD will have complete songs. A "must-have" for sure.
  8. What does he sound like these days?
  9. Here's a post from another BBS from the guy who books Yoshi's: Elvin was in pretty bad shape at Yoshi's. It was very disturbing to see this powerful man so diminished. I do not know what is wrong with him and don't want to speculate. I do know that he was on oxygen, and is having dialysis. I really cannot imagine him playing and touring anymore, but he's a strong man. You never know.
  10. Just arrived from BMG today: Jeff Beck - "Truth", "Beck Ola" Santana - "Caravanserai", "Welcome" BS&T - "Child Is Father to the Man"
  11. That is correct - not metal.
  12. Here's the email that went out in February: +++
  13. I don't see any indication that it was named later on. I skimmed through the liner notes and didn't see anything about that. Also, I still have the original vinyl of "Directions" (released in 1980) which also has the "Willie Nelson" title.
  14. Not exactly the Village, but in Chelsea there's Empire Diner on 10th Ave & 23rd St. In SoHo, the Moondance Diner on 6th Ave & Grand (I think) - near Canal St.
  15. I always wondered why CBS/Sony hasn't released "At Fillmore", myself. I do have the vinyl, fortunately. Also, where's the CD of Maynard's "MF Horn 4 & 5 - Live at Jimmy's"? Another smokin' live, big band date that's dying to be reissued!
  16. Didn't he tour with Lifetime? Wouldn't that have been the early 70's?
  17. Andy Bey Billy Harper Ricky Ford Cecil McBee (as a leader)
  18. John McLaughlin, "Electric Guitarist" is an interesting collection from 1978. He recorded this group of tunes with different musicians that he had played with over the years. So, you get tunes with combinations like: JM, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Jack DeJohnette JM, Jack Bruce, Tony Williams JM, Billy Cobham, Jerry Goodman, Stu Goldberg, Fernando Saunders I think it's a budget album, too, so it is probably available for pretty cheap.
  19. $40 for that Doors box is a pretty good deal. Gonna get killed on shipping, though. GREAT DEAL - 4CD Louis Armstrong - "The Complete RCA Victor Recordings" $11.98. The "Straight, No Filter" for $2.99 isn't bad, either. Watch out for the $3.99 "clearance" CDs, though. After adding shipping, they aren't much cheaper than some of the regular sales they have with free shipping
  20. Along with "I Agree With Pat Metheny" B) BTW, there's also an unreal, live version of "Hard on Me" that goes on for a mind-blowing 12 1/2 minutes!
  21. Where/when is Coleman playing?
  22. ... and I like them, too! The "U.S. of Mind" trilogy is due to be re-released this Fall by BN, I believe. So far, "Total Response" is the only one to be on CD - and that's a Japanese version.
  23. Did you see the free downloads? There's a new one called: "Dear Janet Jackson" B)
  24. Hmmmmm.......under the tray. Good idea! The only set I have with a removable lid is Blue Mitchell which I got a couple of months ago. I also have Gerald Wilson, a later release, and the lid is attached to that one.
