I find that I get Muse albums confused with Inner City (Irv Kratka's label) albums.

Interesting. Good price, too - $30. Limited edition of 5,000. Might have to pick that one up.

That Gary Bartz disk is great. I always loved those 2 albums. You might want to track down the BGP import of this, because the Milestone release left off one tune. I got mine from Dusty Groove and they still list it, but also that it's "Out of Stock".

I have that album and was actually at the show, too! Part of a summer jazz series at the W79th Street Rotunda (near the marina) in NYC. Also saw George Coleman and Clifford Jordan (not together).

Of course the fact that the set is immensely enjoyable and entertaining has nothing to do with it. B-)

Didn't realize that "Relaxin'" wasn't in the box. As I said.....I don't have it myself. Anyway, it seems that for the "right" price it's certainly worth picking up.

I've pretty much eliminated magazines altogether, as I get enough of that "periodical" information online now. Still get The Nation, Smart Money, Consumer Reports, Consumer Reports MoneyAdvisor and some magazines from Environmental groups like Audubon, Nature Conservancy, etc. Oh, yeah......my girlfriend always passes on her copies of The New Yorker when she's finished. They tend to pile up and then I'll read a whole bunch at once.

I almost wrote something like that, but when I looked up his bio on AMG, it said that he started his professional career in the late 50's. So........I guess he "counts".

OTOH, Kenny Barron is definitely still around. I think Reggie Workman just barely squeaks in here, too.

I'll have to take another listen to that 2nd side! I didn't mean that they sounded like BS&T, but there was that jazz/rock/horn sound that a number of groups were experimenting with at the time. Others would be Chicago (of course), Chase, Sons of Champlin ...

I have that first Dreams album and Compost's "Life is Round". Dreams is a jazz/rock group in the BS&T mold. Compost is more of a jazz group with pop sensibilities. Jack plays drums on only 3 cuts, but it doesn't really matter. It's the whole group sound - not an outing for solo features. Other musicians on this date (besides Jack & Harold) are: Bob Moses, Jumma Santos, Jack Gregg, Roland Prince, Ed Finny, Lou Courtney & Jeanne Lee.

Speaking of Hendrix, Winwood does play on Electric Ladyland. He also shows up on a rather obscure King Crimson offshoot project called "McDonald & Giles". Then again, there's always Stomu Yamashta's "Go" with Winwood & Michael Shrieve (there's your Santana connection!)

I could be wrong, but I think he was the guitar player on "Fernwood 2-Night" with Martin Mull & Fred Willard.

Gary Winogrand is one of my all-time favorites of the "street" school of shooting.
