Disc three of the Ellington Capitol. The biggest surprise is a version of "In the Mood" that I actually like.

Ellington Capitol, disc 5. This is a strange set. There's some brilliant stuff here, but also lots of pretty lousy tracks. Ellington and/or Capitol were trying hard for a hit record, with sometimes regrettable results ("Bunny Hop Mambo," for instance). I'm really glad to to have this set, but some tracks will seldom get played again.

Good stuff ! Art Hodes can wait another year, I guess. Same with the Commodores Vol 2 & 3 for me. Got to pace yourself with Mosaics.

I was a bit wary before I listened to these sides, but I found there was a fair amount to enjoy, even if I wouldn't classify any of it as classic.
