JohnJ Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 FWIW, Che has already been banned from Jazzcorner. There's always Blue Note Europe, I guess. Looks like that may become the home for all the Bobby Fischers of the jazz BBS world. That was quick. How did he manage to get himself banned within a couple of days? I guess his reputation preceeded him.
indigo Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 The offensive posts should stay. The followups to these posts show how they were received (and treated in due fashion) by the people here! I agree. I read the archives for some months before signing up. Seeing how differences of opinion were handled helped me get a sense of this place: Quick wits, sharp tongues, and underlying decency. A winning combination, as far as I'm concerned.

Aggie87 Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 That thread must have been removed. The only one I can find with "pulp" in the title is "Have you ever fantasized being beaten to a bloody pulp by a drunken nun?"
JSngry Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 That thread must have been removed. It was. One really barbed reply from that Monte (or is it Mone?) cat, and that was that. Yeah, I know - get a life.

I did the same thing being I joined and agree with you. I lurked on the BNBB for two years before I joined. I read just about every post on that board. I think it is important to have an understanding of a community before you join in. There's always the Norah Jones forum...
chandra Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) There's always the Norah Jones forum... Hey, hey!! Now that is really crossing the yellow line Edited April 4, 2005 by chandra
AfricaBrass Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 There's always the Norah Jones forum... Hey, hey!! Now that is really crossing the yellow line Sorry Chandra! Norah's all right in my book. I was just thinking about the good times to be had with Musicboy over there.
Dan Gould Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 So what did Che do to get banned at JC, and is that officially a new record for quickest banning? Is there a thread over there someone can point me to?
RDK Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 So what did Che do to get banned at JC, and is that officially a new record for quickest banning? Is there a thread over there someone can point me to? I was just over there myself - what can I say? I stop and stare at car wrecks too. Any offensive posts must have already been removed. Only his annoying stuff remains.
AllenLowe Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I think he compared Zionism to Necrophilia -
AllenLowe Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 or maybe it was Dixieland jazz and necrophilia - now, that I could agree with -
Daniel Andresen Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I'm wondering if Che can read this forum while being banned, If so he must be proud of himself - He caused such a big havoc without even participating!!! As for myself, I had disagreed with him about some things (Israel Zionism, Middle Eastern history etc...), but I also found some things that we could talk about and even a couple we had in common. If I understand correctly that he asked to be banned, it is (in my opinion) stupid but it is also regrettable. What did irritate me the most about him was the Smiling picture of Che. THAT I DON'T miss!!!
RDK Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 The problem with Che is that he was both offensive and annoying. I like to think I'm not offensive...
catesta Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I like to think I'm not offensive... You keep on thinking that.
BERIGAN Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 or maybe it was Dixieland jazz and necrophilia - now, that I could agree with - Ok, that's it we are gonna fight now!!!! You know...except for the crappy dixieland.....
AllenLowe Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) or maybe it was Dixieland and Zionism - both represent a popular historical movement, both have opened settlements on foreign territory, both have resorted to military action to preserve their gains (you know how those dixieland guys are always beating up beboppers and avant gardists), both advocate circumcision (don't ask how I know this) - Edited April 4, 2005 by AllenLowe
Guest Chaney Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I like to think I'm not offensive... You keep on thinking that. Couple of breath mints wouldn't hurt.

If I were Che, I would be proud of the fact that I left such a lasting impression on O since it looks like this thread is likely to go on for a while.
