Bud Powell individual Verve CD's are all over the place. Found this set used for a Jackson out the door. The "binder" was in fine shape, CD's were messy; but I gambled and bought it, all plays fine, and very glad to have it!

Still really digging this recent purchase:

Yeah, the individual cd situation with Bud Powell on Verve is not as nice as the set.  The set has a very nice and quite extensive book, too with very clear sessionograpy and discography listings. Somebody has very helpfully posted photos of the book on musicbrainz: https://musicbrainz.org/release/c5a8b2e5-d004-4b81-92d3-fb22e6d767b2/cover-art  .  I have trouble reading the tiny print in most cd-sized booklets.

Disc Four

60 Great Jazz Classics for Lovers

That's kind of a strange release.  I looked on Amazon and it had a pic of the contents, which despite the tacky packaging were pretty good mainstream jazz stuff from Blue Note, Roulette, Pacific Jazz.  Apparently this Battleguard-Twilight label is some sort of Capitol subsidiary.

Stompin, my memory is pretty vague on this.  My recollection is that EMI issued three or four similar box sets in the mid-'90s, each called "60 Great Jazz Classics.".  Each box had four CDs, and sold for $19.99.  A very low price in those days.

I wish I had bought them all.  I bought the one "For Lovers."

I see these on Amazon.
