Milestones
One can question the wisdom of jazz artists releasing Christmas product, but most musicians do play Christmas music--and there have been some good records over the years. But my question is this: Which artists would you most like to see release full Christmas records? Here are my choices: John McLaughlin Chick Corea Keith Jarrett I've never heard Jarrett do even one Christmas song. Some probably believe he's too much of a Scrooge! paul secor
I would have like to have heard Ornette do a Christmas record. Seriously.
A Lark Ascending
I'd like to hear Evan Parker doing 'Angels from the Realms of Glory' with circular breathing on the 'Glo_ow_ow_ree_aaah_aaah_aah...' bit.
Stefan Wood
Peter Brotzmann machine gunning the hell out of Winter Wonderland.
Jason Bivins
I always thought the classic Coltrane Quartet would do a bang-up version of "We Three Kings."

johnblitweiler
Unfortunately, Hal Russell's NRG Ensemble never made a Christmas album. But the NRG players plus some fellow Chicagoans formed Witches And Devils to do Christmas concerts. The next is next Sunday, it's called Mars Williams Presents An Ayler Christmas. Imagine the maniacal Gene Ammons-Tom Archia "Swingin for Christmas" turned even wilder and faster. Wish they'd make an album of it.

duaneiac
Some of the musicians I listed did record a track or two of holiday related music, but I would have loved to have heard them interpret a whole album's worth of such material. A few more to add to my list: The original Benny Goodman Trio & Quartet Johnny Hartman Carmen McRae Red Garland Hank Jones & Charlie Haden

The Magnificent Goldberg
I always wanted Sonny Criss to make an LP called 'A Sunny Criss-mas' With sleeve with a photo of him sweltering on Bondi Beach eating turkey and wearing a Christmas paper hat. The music would have been pretty good, too MG

A Lark Ascending
Some good ones there - I like " Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, Sing, Sing”. What long list! Presumably compiled by a very bored elf in the post Xmas period before toy making recommenced.
