Monk, Strayhorn or Mingus: it’s always great to hear Mr. Lacy interpret those greats. This lovely duet with the to me unknown Eric Watson is another great one. Highly accessible but still exciting enough to keep your attention the full 60 minutes. Watson provides some excellent guidance on these classic compositions

Never seen this recording before, wow. But "Eric" got me in the mood for this

Found this used at a record exchange when I was in PA a year ago. Awesome.

A cool still morning. Going to be a beautiful day!

Starting off with

Lauren Henderson “Sombras” Brontosaurus Music cd

This is the first I’ve heard Ms Henderson, bought because Joel Ross is part of the supporting quartet. Wow, what a graceful phrasing and voice that draws one in. Such a pity her other albums are so expensive to collect!

This again, love it!

Paul Motian Trio - One Time Out (Soul Note). Trying this one again and it's just not my kind of music. I guess the "out" part of the title is literal, as they swing out a lot more here than on any of the other CDs I have with this band.

A late start today. On another board they are discussing this title and I decided to pop a copy of the SHM-SACD in. Not my favorite Larry Young recording perhaps, but what a band--Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson and Elvin Jones joining Larry Young.

Kenny Burrell “Night Song” Verve Japan cd  Six sessions together yielding a great sounding album. “Blues for Wes” has some great octave-playing by Kenny, a real tribute.

If any record deserves the vault excavation treatment to bring out alternate takes, it's this one. What I've heard has been levitational.

My guess is that the four alternates released on cd in Japan in 2014 are all there is to worthy of release. Just my guess however.
