T.D. Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 I looked on discogs and don't fully trust my search, but the most recently recorded release with Ray Drummond seems to have been dated 2014. Lot of reissues since then, but AFAICT nothing new. Listening to the 3 Andrew Hill East Wind albums (Nefertiti, Hommage and Blue Black). I've posted them in recent memory (few months ago), but they're damn good and deserve more listening. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Salvatore Bonafede – For The Time Being A nice record that is actually the sum of its parts that I hadn't listened to before. Enjoying it during a rare lie in after a truly horrific work week. Quote
jazzbo Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 I had a rough night. I’ll make up for some sleep later. Starting off with: The most recent Japanese remaster of this timeless session. Charles Mingus “East Coasting” Bethlehem/Solid Japan cd CDSOL-3808 Quote

So I figured I'd better grab this set while it was available. Yes that was a fine decision of yours and my thoughts were in the same direction. German jazz wasnt too interesting for the collectors when the great US releases were available. Some of thosem in the box made it really on the market as "Hans Last" ---> later James Last and to a certain degree Hutta Hipp & Hans Koller. Edited May 17 by jazzcorner Quote
Peter Friedman Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Another jazz piano player that is new to me. This guy can play very very well. An album I highly recommend for those who like straight ahead swinging jazz. George Mraz adds some fine bass work as well. Quote
