HutchFan Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 Until recently, I didn't know that Washington's first name is pronounced DEE-nah. I'd always assumed that it was DY-nah -- like Dinah Shore. Did everyone else know that except me? I gotta believe that's a common mistake. Quote

jazzbo Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 Returning to Tania Maria, "Bluesilian" cd. I can't help but smile at her verve and groove and her excellent pianism. Quote
HutchFan Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 IMO, the "jazz-meets-classical" thing can easily go sideways and spin off into a dreaded ditch. But it works here. I think it's because this trio uses these pieces as launching points for improvisation. So it's really jazz -- not a hybrid. Quote

jazzbo Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 Ian Carr and Nucleus "Elastic Rock" cd, from the "Torrid Zone" box set. I used to have this LP many many years ago and it's nice to have it now on cd. Remastering is excellent on this box set! Quote
Peter Friedman Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 There are some nice tenor solos from Hal Singer on this album. Quote
