I did attend one gig there in the late 90s, Alan Skidmore, but mainly, I remember the sign on the street, remarkably, the club is still there even though not as a jazz club with regular "name" guests... Willie The Lion Smith & Don Ewell - Grand Piano from Misha Mengelberg's personal collection, the sales clerk said something along the lines of "always nice to own an object like this even though, as you may know, Mengelberg was not a great archivist..." Indeed, the condition of the record could be better - then again, for four-handed stride piano condition matters less than for most types of music... Quote

I have quite a few records from Evan Parker's and Thurston Moore's collections, easily available in London as I suppose Mengelberg might be in the Netherlands. I like the idea of owning them even if in truth it is the kind of aura that can't really be handed on. Quote

With Moore I would expect though that the records are well-kept... and yes, even though this was the first one I saw, records from Mengelberg's collection are common around Amsterdam the sales clerk said...
