  2. Nothing really to add to what has already been said. Like others I have a countless number of his LP productions on Prestige, Onyx and Xanadu. Thanks for all these productions , cover art and all the other contributions. A life well lived. RIP.
  3. Did Shelly Manne ever record a Latin album? Or any latin tracks? I'm struggling to remember any. I am listening to the original Jazz a la Lighthouse record and there is an at best semi successful (from the pov of the drums) track with congas.
  4. Today
  5. R.I.P. to a very significant contributor.

  13. Great loss. Thanks for the insight and the quality ... RIP
  14. Great contributor over many decades. I have what must be hundreds of discs he produced on Prestige, Cobblestone/Muse, and Xanadu. I was not aware of his design and photography work!
  15. Damn! RIP
  16. RIP Don Schlitten! Most of my first jazz LPs were Prestige records, so for my experience he was there from the start.
  17. Donald Byrd “Off to the Races” Blue Note Japan 24 bit by RVG lp facsimile cd. Stereo version. Sounds pretty darned good to me on my system today.
  18. Absolutely right! In terms of how a producer's name alone could make you buy an album by a completely unknown artist, Alfred Lion and Don were the twin pillars. Honestly, I had no idea who most of the leaders on Xanadu's albums were until I bought them. I bought them sight unseen, but they almost never disappointed. RIP.
  19. I never knew the depth of Don Schlitten’s background, he will be missed.
  20. . In such ways do all good things end, by ending.
