What Classical Music Are You Listening To?

Came here to say exactly this after receiving the set yesterday, listening to disc 1 and reading your superlative notes. This set pulls together a lot of previously hard-to-find or unavailable music, presents it in beautiful sound and with words that capture and elaborate on its creative vitality, and broadens the perceived spectrum of Sanders’ legacy as a jazz artist. Grateful that David Weiss and John Koenig shepherded this Cuscuna project to completion and that you signed on to do the essay and session liners. When it comes to Mosaic booklets I’m a consummate Loren Schoenberg fan, but there’s a new horn in town, kids… somebody go wake up Mary Lou Williams!

Spinning this again while I have it pulled from the shelf: Jimmy Heath - Love and Understanding (Muse, rec. 1973)

Made it to disc 4 and I have to say I'm not disappointed. I have scattered entries from his discography but haven't investigated his music throughly - my way of saying I'm not a hardcore fan. Very limited weirdness ( vocals !!) and just a lot of strong tunes and thoughtful playing in great set. I'm not sure that this set is overkill. I really like it

I miss Bohemian Caverns-I saw many great shows there.

I usually don't buy Concord albums but this one I don't regret at all... almost a Hard Bop album, with Herman Riley, Chuck Berghofer and the great Donald Bailey...

Nondescript cover of a latter-day reissue. In case anyone's wondering, it's this one: https://www.discogs.com/de/release/4116417-Lucky-Thompson-Lucky-Thompson -

Tchaikovsky “Four Seasons” Fidelis SACD Piano trio pieces, one for each month. I last listened to this with my Dad on the old family stereo in that beautiful cherry wood cabinet he had specially made in '62 and kept all these years, one of my brothers enjoys that now. I really miss that man. . . so much!
