  1. Past hour
  2. This one is among my recent arrivals here, but in the stack of the "to listen to" to-do list. Time to listen to it now, I guess. Same for the "Ben Webster Meets Don Byas" of which I obtained a SABA original. After having read what's been written about this session in the Don Byas biography I think you cannot help listening to this record with somewhat "different" (or should I say "nuanced" ) ears.
  3. It is amazing that this is one of the last of the old message boards still going. There was a stage about ten years ago when the kids were romanticising the early days of the internet with their message boards.

IMO, he is the quarterback in the hot seat this year. https://3downnation.com/2026/03/21/exclusive-dru-brown-contract-details-for-2026-cfl-season-with-ottawa-redblacks/
  6. The Last Thing He Told Me - Apple+
  7. Today, the Fort Worth Afro-American Roots Music Festival, the area's best music festival. I heard: The Sable Sisters (with Kaia Kater), Ann Harris, Jake Blount, and Sunny War. The Sable Sisters and Sunny War were both really great. Ann Harris, on solo violin and vocals, was also impressive.

    Rare Blue Notes

The McCoy track, while good, is sorta an outlier. I like Japanese comps of Blue Note work for their track selection. Always a few (if small) surprises.
  9. Late

    Ben Webster

    See You At The Fair
  10. The Spotlite set is warmly recommended. I like the Japanese edition. Purchase (for now) right here.
  11. I've seen Rathbun perform many times but it's been a long time since he toured around here. Maybe this is why?
  12. Yesterday
  13. I still keep hoping that soulstation1 posts to this thread but my fear is that he is no longer with us.
  14. Bob Dylan “John Wesley Harding” Mobile Fidelity Lab (stereo) SACD I used to obsess over this album earlier in my life. I still love to hear it.
  15. Joined March 9, 2003. Bounced back & forth between here & the BNBB (mainly to watch Heaney & Albertson argue). I remember Jazz Central Station, too. Regular poster thru 2012. Occasional lurker since then. Glad the board is still going and grateful for the friendships developed over the years. I still listen to old Blindfold Tests from years back; lots of great memories associated with those. I *really* miss the old Jazz Trading Post.
