Brewers trailing 8 - 1 after 2 innings. Win 10 - 8. 13 wins in a row.

I bought a ton of those back then, especially the Prestige/Riverside/Milestone ones. Titles I had never heard or even heard of, at a great price. I think their heyday was actually in the mid-late 70's IIRC.

I can't copy anymore my texts into the forum now! I had a message about it being too large, even though it was just a bit over 200 words. Anyway, I was writing about the jazz "twofer days" in the early 80s, which for me meant finding these 2-LP sets by Miles, Sonny, Monk, Wes, etc. They featured music originally on Prestige and Riverside. It was a lot of good jazz and got my collection going strongly right away. Blue Note and Impulse did it too, but I mostly I bought Riverside/Prestige. I have warm recollections of those days, the excitement of finding those records. I guess my original entry can be found in the attachment. Jazz Twofer.docx

Wouldn't surprise me. 😉 I think there have been rumblings on the forum.

Must be a local-ish brand. There are no retail outlets for me here, per their website.

You might not be alone in that?

Big regret: I was in school in the Albany area 1978-83. Often heard about Brignola (and J. R. Monterose) club dates in Albany. Considered going, but never did because I wasn't yet such a jazz enthusiast at that time. 😢

You're right, of course. It's just that a lot of his Internet statements seem to rub me the wrong way.

I have some of the Muse albums on previously issued cds and would be interested in purchasing several more but not on pricey, deluxe lp editions. Good quality downloads (cd or better) would work fine for me too.

I received a tracking number! It often takes several days to my little corner of Oregon. On top of that today I received a very nice copy of the Buddy De Franco/Sonny Clark quartet and quintet set, for which I have searched many's the long year, and the price was shockingly low - counting for 30 years of inflation, probably less than the original price. I tried for a while to get all the original albums but some were pretty difficult to find on cd.

What Classical Music Are You Listening To?

Pringles is odd but Boulder Canyon is just weird.

I have a live date recorded in Cortland from around this time and it smokes. The drummer of the session has been telling me for years that he's going to release it officially but it's beginning to look like that isn't happening.

If I had them, shake. (Speaking of, Sonic shakes was our source but damn they are expensive. Now that I don't eat that stuff, if we do Sonic my wife gets a medium shake (Banana) and I eat something from the chicken portion of the menu and 2-3 of her Tots.)

Based on a few recommendations I decided to get the Percy France Trio CD. In the end iIt cost me quite a bit more than anticipated, with overseas shipping, 21% tax (Dutch VAT) and a handling fee upon arrival. I'm not sure yet whether it was worth the cost, but it's a nice date.

Yeah... I've found that CD is typically the better option for these archival live releases, as the sound quality usually doesn't justify the additional expense and inconvenience of vinyl.

I'm jealous that you had a chance to see the Breuker Kollektief live. If you'd like to sample Live in Berlin, you can listen to a couple cuts here: https://destination-out.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-berlin . . . FWIW, Bandcamp calls it one of Breuker's "most important albums." I'm not at all a Breuker expert. I only know a few of his recordings, and this LP is new to me. But I love the crazy mixture of different elements in his music, how it veers all over the place stylistically from madcap to tender. Another Muse LP now on my 'table:

OK, here is Percy France playing his tenor saxophone at his own surprise birthday party, August 15, 1989, and that is Joe Newman in profile at right.
