  2. Mosaic - not received any notice to pay VAT yet ( it's been five days or so). I've yet to order a Mosaic from JM
  3. Another thing I am thinking of is that even most US-based labels and artists who press CDs have them manufactured in Europe. Will people even be able to get new catalog items made now, even domestically?
  4. Next up: Lester Young - Pres and Teddy and Oscar (Verve, 2 LPs, rec. 1952 & 1956)
  5. Today
  6. Did you go direct Mosaic route or Jazz Messengers?
  7. Came here to say exactly this after receiving the set yesterday, listening to disc 1 and reading your superlative notes. This set pulls together a lot of previously hard-to-find or unavailable music, presents it in beautiful sound and with words that capture and elaborate on its creative vitality, and broadens the perceived spectrum of Sanders’ legacy as a jazz artist. Grateful that David Weiss and John Koenig shepherded this Cuscuna project to completion and that you signed on to do the essay and session liners. When it comes to Mosaic booklets I’m a consummate Loren Schoenberg fan, but there’s a new horn in town, kids… somebody go wake up Mary Lou Williams!
  8. Spinning this again while I have it pulled from the shelf: Jimmy Heath - Love and Understanding (Muse, rec. 1973)
  9. We most certainly do. The Boris Tax has certainly affected my purchases from Europe, oddly often making US purchases better value. I feel your US based pain folks
  10. A summary: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/26/postal-services-suspend-us-usa-deliveries-how-will-it-affect-you
  11. Made it to disc 4 and I have to say I'm not disappointed. I have scattered entries from his discography but haven't investigated his music throughly - my way of saying I'm not a hardcore fan. Very limited weirdness ( vocals !!) and just a lot of strong tunes and thoughtful playing in great set. I'm not sure that this set is overkill. I really like it
  12. Disc 1 - originally released as Consciousness Excellent.
  13. I miss Bohemian Caverns-I saw many great shows there.
  14. I usually don't buy Concord albums but this one I don't regret at all... almost a Hard Bop album, with Herman Riley, Chuck Berghofer and the great Donald Bailey...
  15. Nondescript cover of a latter-day reissue. In case anyone's wondering, it's this one: https://www.discogs.com/de/release/4116417-Lucky-Thompson-Lucky-Thompson
  16. Last night at Close Up Nate Wooley, Sylvie Courvoisier & Chis Corsano 46 & 42 minute sets. Stunning.
  17. Kicked me out of a desert of music to get Pax back on - Calliope here we come!
  18. Bobby Hutcherson “Highway One/Conception The Gift Of Love/Un Poco Loco” BGO 2 cd set, disc 2
  19. Another disc from the “Enjoying the Ride” Grateful Dead box set released at the end of May. Greek Theatre, University of California, Berkeley, CA (7/13/84), disc 3
  20. Tchaikovsky “Four Seasons” Fidelis SACD Piano trio pieces, one for each month. I last listened to this with my Dad on the old family stereo in that beautiful cherry wood cabinet he had specially made in '62 and kept all these years, one of my brothers enjoys that now. I really miss that man. . . so much!
