Some Cecil as the year winds down.

I took a break from Moby Dick to finish this wonderful book by Laurie Lee about his going to Spain right before the Spanish Civil War. During his two years away from home in Gloucestershire he travels by foot from the top of Spain all the way to the South and leaves just as the Civil War heats up. He survives on money he can earn from playing his violin and the kindness of the people he meets. In the book’s epilogue he decides he has made a mistake leaving and hikes over the Pyrenees to get back into Civil War Spain

Very good album it is. Great sleeve art too.

I think a lot of the confusion over Billy Harper still being a member of The Cookers stemmed from the fact that many (most?) of the band pictures used on Facebook were older ones from when Billy was a member. I know that I was surprised when I saw one of them, thinking, "Billy's back with the band"? If you saw any of the initial posts, Billy simply clarified that he was no longer a member of the band. When he kept getting called out it by several people, he then posted his thoughts on it. I don't think he planned to get so involved in this but people wouldn't leave him out.

Ah, it's a shame BillF is gone, he'd have had some first-hand recollections of those times.

Talk about C.G. Jung's synchronicity. I was at a bar last night with friends for a drink and Eagle Eye’s Save the Night came on…cheers! Then later, we walked over to Barnes and Noble right by the restaurant we were at, and I came across Nenah Cherry’s Memoir, and of course I raced over to the chapter on Don. WOW. Within 5 minutes, she talks about her brother, Eagle Eye. Now that’s synchronicity!
