  1. Past hour
  2. The vibe is unmistakably fuquitous, with which I am fully sympathetic.
  3. I never had heard about it. The personnel sounds great. All of them favourites of mine. oh my Godnesses, that´s outa sight ! Soooo great ! I MUST purchase this. And never heard Hank Mobley so hip, so modern, it´s so much power on it, with that stellar rhythm section, and it´s cool to hear Cedar Walton playing Fender piano here, that´s really music I dig !
  4. Today
  5. You're right, I didn't have the years correct. My chance to see him in concert was before the pandemic for sure.
  6. Harris Eisenstadt studied the music of Western Africa in Gambia (I think) and you can hear it in his music. Also Adam Rudolph and Hartmut Geerken. Probably some other percussionists... maybe Hamid Drake and Michael Zerang too?

  9. yes, doesn't he still spend a lot of time in SA?
  10. I almost went but the prices were a bit rich for me, especially considering I just saw them a couple of times last month on the McBride's World At Sea cruise.
  11. Orquesta Ritmo De Sabanas – El Pechugon
  12. Malt Vinegar or BBQ sauce are my choices for dipping.
  13. If I'm dipping fries in mayonnaise then there will be hot sauce involved. Valentina Extra Hot preferred. I pretty much always dip fries into some kind of sauce, so prefer them off of a sandwich, gyro, or any other sandwich cousin. I like the bread to get the meat's grease flavor, and fries typically block that from happening. Good on others for digging it. I've tried it, but it just hasn't worked for me.
  14. Because Greg is somewhat "local" to my area, I get to see him quite often. He's actually playing at Arthur's House Of Jazz in Methuen, MA on April 9th. Every time I catch him live, he plays great.
  15. As far as I know Peter never made it back to the United States since before the pandemic. I was lucky to see his last show stateside in June 2019 / a short but nice duo with Andrew Cyrille.
  16. 👍 You have described Greg Abate's playing very well, Peter. I would like to hear Greg Abate in person. I really enjoy the seven Abate recordings I own (including 2 with Phil Woods and one with Alan Barnes). Here is one of my favorites.
