  4. Although there doesn't appear to be any formal confirmation of this, he had been ill for quite a while, so it is not unexpected. I consider myself lucky to have seen so many Jazz greats - and Ray was one of them. He was a force on the bass. I've been meaning to pick up a few more of Ray's Arabesque CDs. I have "Vignettes" and it's really nice. I'll have to play that in his memory.
  5. R.I.P. Very sad; great bassist. I met his father once, who was very proud of his son.
  6. RIP.
  7. Sad News! He was a damn good bass player. I had the good fortune to see him play live quite a number of times. And as Mike said, I have him on numerous CDs including a few where he is the leader. Ray was also the co-leader on 4 or 5 trio CDs by The Drummonds with Billy Drummond and Renee Rosnes

  14. R.I.P.
  15. Different arrangers cooparated on each track - Jeremy Lubbock, John Clayton, Richard Evans, and Nina herself. I only have the basic album, so I can't help you with this track. discogs doesn't state arrangers for the bonus tracks.
  16. Mark Meyers Ensemble (and Sextet) "Our Metier" Capri cd That rare thing: a Meyers cd featuring his own compositions. And arrangements of course. Very nice in all ways!
  17. Okay - it's always good to state a source right away. R.I.P. - one of the most reliable bassists of his generation, big tone. I bet every member has a few albums with him participating on the shelves.
  18. Again a Favoriten of mine. I hat seen Pharoah live quote often in the Earl 80s in acoustic quartet setting.
  19. Of course it depends on what kind of music. I’m pretty sure some music releases more cortisol in my body 🤣
  20. RCA Victor NL-45962 - Al Cohn / Shorty Rogers "Eats Coast - West Coast Scene" - rec. 1954

  22. VIK NL-45905 (FSR reissue 1984) - Elliot Lawrence Groups " Jazz Goes Broadway" rec. LA 1957 Reply Quick Reply
  23. I know Ray Drummond the bass player, born in 1946. There is a drummer Billy Drummond (no relation) , born 1959. Now who is it, what is your source?
