  1. Past hour
  2. yeah, I'm okay with owning the other Elemental/Resonance releases on CD.
  3. Anyone bought the Mark Murphy? I'm tempted but would love a steer on the sound quality
  4. And let's face it Nat is a pretty good authority. Convinced me not to go anywhere near it
  5. Today
  6. Don't go higher bitrate CBR. Instead, switch to Q0 (highest quality) VBR. Same sound quality as 320 CBR but with smaller files... not that storage is an issue anymore... but it might be in your car on a thumbdrive.
  7. Fisheye-lens-kind-of-shot to get it all on there (and then compressed to be uploaded at below 100kb ...).
  8. I have nearly all this as well. I'm sure I'm missing a few. I still leave the first 75 or so in the tall cardboard box, though that means accessing them is a hassle. I ripped them all back in the day, but at a low bit rate. One project (I keep postponing) is to rerip at higher bit rate and add in the most critical info in track properties. (I've actually just done this recently for the 2 Vogue boxes, but I need a spare portable hard drive before I get started on Jazz in Paris...)
  9. Is it worse than the Inner Man/Live at Birdland '62?
  10. Nice, though I imagine the walls in that room aren't actually as curvy as they look here.
  11. About 14000 CDs (mostly in CD sleeves) in IKEA Gnedby shelves (25).
  12. Bill Evans" You Must Believe in Spring" Warner Bros. cd Posthumously released masterwork.
  13. Re-listening to this new release.Good way to start the day, the energy is focused and the playing flows. Immanuel Wilkins “Live at the Village Vanguard Vol. 1” Blue Note cd.
  14. Wikipedia also has some biographical info and a detailed discography from his early period (created by me).
  15. April 21 Alan Skidmore - 1942 Saw him at Jazzwerkstatt Peitz, June 12-14, 2015 https://www.ingrids-konzert-fotos.de/jazzwerkstatt-peitz-52/ https://www.ingrids-konzert-fotos.de/jazzwerkstatt-peitz-52-ende/
  16. With the great Nicolas Simion. One of Mals best 90’s recordings.
  17. I wrapped up Schulz and was about to return to Ada, but realized that given it is a bit longer than I expected (350 pages), I had to read Reva's Endling (an interesting novel about snails, mail order brides from Ukraine and the pending Russian invasion) for a book club next week. So I will finish Endling (off to a strong start so far) and then finish Ada for real this time.
  18. Margo's Got Money Troubles - Apple+
  19. Matt's been working on a new website, which at this point is hosting a number of articles and links as a sort of "recent index." My understanding is that he doesn't want it to be a discography (Discogs works well enough for that, for now). It'll be interesting to see how this resource grows. Anyway, for lack of a better place to put it, here goes: https://legacyofmatthewshipp.com/index/ the interview from The Ideas Letter ("A Pure Act in a Dirty World") serves as kind of a biographical primer until a true biography is written. Enjoy!
  20. I'm still around, occasionally.
  21. Grabbed the the Cecil. I couldn't pass it up. I did pass on the other zvi albums. I can't buy everything.
  22. Immanuel Wilkins has a new release! “Live at the Village Vanguard Vol. 1” Blue Note. I’m listening to the cd. I knew I would like it, I think Wilkins is one of the current leaders I like most.
