(Although this can be considered Political). It's still about our music, and so I am posting here.... I just saw on NPR that Jason Moran has left the Kennedy Center where he was director of jazz programming. Unsure whether he left voluntarily or was pushed out. It never ends ..

Mack Avenue was not vending at the Detroit Jazz Festival, but they were advertising on all of the "jumbotrons". Those ads were very much including the Strata East items.

They told me in the spring that they would announce a second wave in the fall, but I haven't heard any updates. We can hope and watch.

I once drove from Toronto to Montreal to see Tim Hardin, maybe with this group. He was great but on this record the backing musicians almost upstage him with their power. I better listen to that Richie Havens record.

Is the legacy over already? I haven't heard about anything new coming out. Is there a second wave of releases on the way?

I'm not familiar with the Ghost Train Orchestra, but I note that their program at Big Ears will consist of compositions of Moondog.

Been planning this one for a while ... I put together snips of Percy from his appearance on WKCR's Jazz Alternatives as Musician Host. And today September 11, happens to be the anniversary of the day he bought his first tenor saxophone, with a little help from his Pop. This is chaptered so you can hover your mouse to see the topics covered. I hope people enjoy this, there are other clips I didn't use and some I couldn't find, including Percy talking about how different saxophone models are like a woman. So there might be a Part 2 coming up.

But those guys were just too damn "serious".

My favorite Havens album! "No Opportunity Necessary...", "Inside of Him", "The Klan", "From The Prison", "Run Shaker Life" all great cuts to me. And the live one we've been discussing is my favorite Hardin album. Wonderful musicianship on both.
