If I'm dipping fries in mayonnaise then there will be hot sauce involved. Valentina Extra Hot preferred. I pretty much always dip fries into some kind of sauce, so prefer them off of a sandwich, gyro, or any other sandwich cousin. I like the bread to get the meat's grease flavor, and fries typically block that from happening. Good on others for digging it. I've tried it, but it just hasn't worked for me.

Because Greg is somewhat "local" to my area, I get to see him quite often. He's actually playing at Arthur's House Of Jazz in Methuen, MA on April 9th. Every time I catch him live, he plays great.

As far as I know Peter never made it back to the United States since before the pandemic. I was lucky to see his last show stateside in June 2019 / a short but nice duo with Andrew Cyrille.

👍 You have described Greg Abate's playing very well, Peter. I would like to hear Greg Abate in person. I really enjoy the seven Abate recordings I own (including 2 with Phil Woods and one with Alan Barnes). Here is one of my favorites.

On the basis of making records with Bill Frisell and Charlie Haden, Ginger is OK in my book.

I guess it depends if you count Ginger Baker as a jazz-rock drummer, but he collaborated with Fela Kuti both in Africa and Europe. https://www.openculture.com/2020/06/when-afrobeat-legend-fela-kuti-collaborated-with-cream-drummer-ginger-baker.html

Not really in the spirit of this thread but I noticed a copy of this unlikely LP browsing in Rays Jazz this afternoon - 'Bud Shank in Africa' from 1958. https://electricjive.blogspot.com/2010/11/bud-shank-in-africa-1958.html Released by Pacific Jazz in South Africa only and reissued a few years later in the UK as simply 'Bud Shank Quartet'. It doesn't appear to have ever had a US release.

I owned a pair of the entry level Magnepans quite awhile ago. Agree that they sound great. However, the sweet spot, where imaging was outstanding, was quite small. I don’t know if that would hold for larger or more current models.
