What Classical Music Are You Listening To?

I recall reading somewhere (I believe it was in the booklet for Bud Powell on Verve) that Horace mentioned writing the piece with Bud's style in mind. And Bud apparently loved it so much he begged for the sheet music. He actually played it on his very last album, Ups 'n Downs (listed as Untitled). It's a ragged, terrible take, but somehow it still has dignity. Also, I saw a reprint of sheet music Horace gave to Bud, signed with Horace's gratitude.

Consequences of Legal Weed
Stompin at the Savoy replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I have absolutely no quarrel with that. Weed is not for everybody. On the other hand I have an 85 year old friend who has truly terrible arthritis. All over the place. Scary looking. Doctors asked him how he manages with this and he used to tell them he smokes weed every day. Keep doing it, they told him. Recently he had shingles and gout. The poor fellow is a mess and can't use cannabis as much but he told me how much he liked some blue dream I gave him. -
There was talk that it may actually be a Bud Powell tune.

I never quite "got" them, but they're always highly regarded. I've never seen them either, but they're coming to SF in February, so I bought a ticket. Got to see the Jeff Parker Expansion Trio about a month ago and he was stronger than I've ever seen him. Looking forward to seeing Tortoise!

It WAS! They had a couple of substitutions: Donald Harrison had a gig with Ron Carter, so Craig Handy filled in. Eddie Henderson was under the weather and Mike Rodriguez sat in for him.

It's now available on Apple Music. The sound quality and performance are decent. āNo Smokin'ā is one of my favorite Silver songsāis this the first time a live version has seen the light of day?

There has been a slow release of some of the tracks from Touch. I heard one of them on BBC 3's Round Midnight. The CD/LP should be out now and it is on Bandcamp. https://intlanthem.bandcamp.com/album/touch It appears 3 or so tracks are currently available on other sites, with the rest of the album released on non-Bandcamp digital platforms on Nov. 11. I'm not super familiar with Tortoise. Apparently they are from Chicago, but I wasn't really aware of them and don't recall hearing about any of their gigs, though presumably they were around. (I wonder if they used to play the Empty Bottle; I didn't get out that way often enough...) They have an upcoming tour in support of Touch, but no Canadian dates so far. I'd go see them if they do come to Toronto. Less sure if I would travel to Montreal, as an example...

Yeah, she is trash, with no experience running a news organization like that. Unfathomable that what was once the gold standard in news coverage has come to this.

In addition to Jimās comment, Kenny Drew took over Reddās role. Yes, Iām aware itās a comp of two different albums. Iām pulling CDs from the shelves that I havenāt listened to in years. Listened to this one the other day.

Well...

I wonder why the chose to use 6 CDs when it looks like the same program for CD as vinyl. Couldnāt they put it on a 3-CD(or possibly even 2-CD).

Being SOL sucks! -
How long am I going to live? Anybody know? Random shit happens. All you can do is try to have a good day, every day, for as long as the days are there to be had. Do no harm. To that end, at some point my days were going to be better un-high than not. But that's not necessarily going to hold true for everybody. There's probably as many answers - and reasons for them - as there are people.

As far as I can tell (I ordered one in a test cart), USA is not on the list of countries they ship to (presumably due to tariff issues), so many (most?) of us on the forum are SOL.
