  4. After disposing the single cds after obtaining all the Miles "metal spine" sets, I found myself missing the original programs. Now I have found most titles available on Amazon for $3.79. A bunch of 'em are on the way.
  5. My point of view - he's a fine musician and usually plays the "obvious" instead of the more "interesting". He tends to "overplay" rather than play the "subtle" thing. Chops a plenty to wow the crowds and the followers.
  6. My copy went missing. Damn.
  7. Why don't you provide a link so we can answer you?
  8. Possibly true, but I bet they still own the rights.
  9. Bud Freeman and Pee Wee Russell Dot sessions. If they coupled the Freeman with his Grand Award session....It would be wonderful.
  10. I started using those on my records in the '70s - I think Roscoe Mitchell's "Nonaah" was the first one.

  12. Now listening to Schoenberg piano music recorded by Steuermann in 1963.
  13. I did a fair amount of work on this and a bunch of other Uptown cds without credit. Sort of pisses me off.
  14. Currently Schoenberg's Phantasie for Violin and Piano - Tibor Varga & Ernst Krenek recorded in 1951.

  19. More like 9 or 10 - their last Ellington box was 11.
  20. By my count, that would be 215 tracks.
  21. I've been hoping for an early Ellington (1925-31) set of Sony holdings - Pathe/Cameo/Columbia/Okeh/Harmony/Perfect/Banner/etc. This would more than double the "Okeh Ellington" set.
