  1. Did anyone else notice they missed bonus tracks for the Africa / Dakar set? Sweet and Lovely (10:32) and Not Just to be in Love Again (7:17) were included on an anthology called Anniversary.
  2. John Vivian Iggy a gazzilion points to anyone completing the names above. Michigan rock. Paul Secor got close enough with John Sinclair and Iggy Stooge - Vivian is the sticker. I just can't remember her last name. As I told Paul "The Vivian would be something like Vivian Chevitz or Shevits, etc. In 1968 at John Sinclair’s suggestion she brought Iggy to me in Chicago. Not sure what I was supposed to do with him but....."

  6. Aphex introduced the Aural Exciter before digital recording was a factor. It was meant to function in the analog world. I was introduced to it at Streeterville studios in Chicago in November of 1977 while we were recording Air Time. Streeterville claimed it was the first unit in Chicago.
  7. Interesting how Moms is exploring the past - hers and others. Is everything ok?
  8. I see the Mitchell set uses the first lp cover for 3x 4eye. Roscoe objected to the cover and it was quickly replaced.

  18. I love this version for all kinds of reasons which drive Moms mad. Never the less, I have 3 or 4 other versions.
  19. Dusty Groove comments on Celebrating Fred Anderson: One of the boldest performances we've heard from Roscoe Mitchell in years – a beautiful live set performed in dedication to the late Fred Anderson – at Chicago's Constellation performance space, a music club that's picked up the torch from Anderson's legendary Velvet Lounge! The sound of the set is wonderful – beautifully recorded, with so much tone and texture, you'd hardly think the setting was a concert – and Mitchell builds his reed passages wonderfully in a quartet that also includes Tomeka Reid on cello, Junius Paul on bass, and Vincent Davis on drums – all players who seem to hit Mitchell's very AACM-centric style of performance for the evening. Tracks are mostly long, and echo some of Anderson's freewheeling spirit on tenor – and Roscoe plays alto, soprano, and sopranino – on tracks that include "Hey Fred", "Velvet Lounge", "Song For Fred Anderson", "Bernice", and "Cermak Road". © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.
