  1. All/most of the Musicraft material was on cd in the past. Search Amazon and the usual suspects.
  2. Anyone hear new notes? It's about music.
  3. Thanks. I do remember the original tapes were in some format exclusive to Europe (I was told) and the tapes I worked with, for the cd reissue, were translations made back in the '70s. Not sure what the problem was.
  4. But the tapes were sent from France - was Anthony really there when the artwork arrived? The record was issued in 1974, so maybe. At my age, with so many memories, timelines wander. Anyway, while working on the reissue, I wanted the original cover but was ignored. Same with Three Compositions. I recently told the folks at Delmark I wanted another crack at remastering that disc and using the original art was a condition.
  5. I would contact them. Mine arrived fine.
  6. Laz usually stimulates the brain. West Michigan is very lucky. His live shows are special.
  7. In the '70s I used to encounter him regularly at bars - usually John Barleycorn on Lincoln Avenue (they had fantastic cheddar burgers). :-) Later I met him at a few parties. Back then he was an alcoholic, but a very mellow fellow. I have some fond memories. No doubt, he would not remember me. I really admire his current attitude and wish him the best.
  8. I'd opt for 1923.
  9. I was listening shortly after.........
  10. We have the RVG's and Keepnews Collection as recent history.
  11. Yeah, Roscoe called today and mentioned the appearance.
  12. Only a stereo master was recorded. Great sounding session whatever the mix.
  13. Dexter Gordon/Live! at the Jazzhus Montmartre. Contents: I Should Care (9:00) Darn That Dream (9:04) Now's the Time (13:53) Satin Doll (14:33) What's New (8:38) Catalog number 874727-2
  14. If the music is right, relentlessness is great! Hop to that!
  15. Jack Tracy probably was in charge and Larry's comment is probably on the mark. Jack and I were regularly in contact a while back. I don't think he's in great shape since he's not responded to contacts for a while. And so it goes......
  16. Saw him numerous times and recorded him once. He was a delightful man from my perspective. Edit to add - the Black Lions are my favorites. Too bad all this music isn't easily available.
  17. It did fit on one cd - in the Monk/Prestige package.
  18. Grasping at straws. They spent a bunch of money and have few clues in the changing marketplace. Wait a few months and buy the cut-outs.
  19. What the fuck did they do to Dee Dee ? Looks like something I'd do to her if I saw her. Last time I heard her it was terrible. The idea of her Billie tribute is repulsive to me.
  20. There is/was a 4th disc from this date issued on Jazz Colours. Great stuff.
  21. I recently ordered 10 Black Saints and one of them (without warning) was a cdr.
