  1. I wish I still had my Pee Wee Bell record.
  2. Go to your fridge and open a Bud Ice for me.
  3. Liza by Mel Powell, Ruby Braff, Skeeter Best, Oscar Pettiford and Bobby Donaldson. Something like once a year I play this to remind me what I love. Been doing this for decades. It is sure to bring me out of any funk.
  4. Great news. All the best.

    You kids be silly.
  6. All/most of the Musicraft material was on cd in the past. Search Amazon and the usual suspects.
  7. Anyone hear new notes? It's about music.
  8. Thanks. I do remember the original tapes were in some format exclusive to Europe (I was told) and the tapes I worked with, for the cd reissue, were translations made back in the '70s. Not sure what the problem was.
  9. But the tapes were sent from France - was Anthony really there when the artwork arrived? The record was issued in 1974, so maybe. At my age, with so many memories, timelines wander. Anyway, while working on the reissue, I wanted the original cover but was ignored. Same with Three Compositions. I recently told the folks at Delmark I wanted another crack at remastering that disc and using the original art was a condition.
  10. I would contact them. Mine arrived fine.
  11. Laz usually stimulates the brain. West Michigan is very lucky. His live shows are special.
  12. In the '70s I used to encounter him regularly at bars - usually John Barleycorn on Lincoln Avenue (they had fantastic cheddar burgers). :-) Later I met him at a few parties. Back then he was an alcoholic, but a very mellow fellow. I have some fond memories. No doubt, he would not remember me. I really admire his current attitude and wish him the best.
  13. I'd opt for 1923.
  14. I was listening shortly after.........
  15. We have the RVG's and Keepnews Collection as recent history.
  16. Yeah, Roscoe called today and mentioned the appearance.
  17. Only a stereo master was recorded. Great sounding session whatever the mix.
  18. Dexter Gordon/Live! at the Jazzhus Montmartre. Contents: I Should Care (9:00) Darn That Dream (9:04) Now's the Time (13:53) Satin Doll (14:33) What's New (8:38) Catalog number 874727-2
  19. If the music is right, relentlessness is great! Hop to that!
