That still doesn't make sense to me. I thought the Parlan box set had "sold out" last December, that it was not a case of the license expired. Obviously, the license must not have expired if they put these sets up for sale last week. But if, as you suggest, it's easy for it to pick up the numbering where it left off when the set originally went OOP, then that suggests that Mosaic fell more than 1,000 copies short of a sell-out. If that's true, why was it listed as sold out last December? Or is it just a case of they had these spare booklets with numbers assigned, but not enough discs to fill them? In other words, they sold box #4,999 and box #5,000 a long time ago, but the booklet for my #3,465 was sitting around as an orphan without discs...(and if my last scenario is true, it still raises a question in my mind about the accuracy of the inventory control software and procedures) Geez! Do you need a government commission to look into this? Believe me, they never sold close to 5000 copies of a Parlan set.

at this point, what do 4 games really matter. Time to let it go.

Like all of the Prestige "jam sessions" this is better than ok but not essential. I think I have all of them - 18 (depending on your filing system), not counting the Ammons sessions. Weinstock was really proud of these and that's fine with me.

How does the near total absence of even remotely half-way interesting new titles or re-issues, in ACTUAL STORES, mean I don't have a clue?? I thought the crux of this thread was about plummeting CD sales (and/or plummeting music sales). The near total lack of stock in stores is one aspect of this. That was my point, and I'm sticking to it. There have been, and continue to be a wealth of interesting things available on-line, but I'm guessing most casual listeners (and 'jazz consumers') weren't going that route before, and haven't shifted. For the most part, I think people are spending their entertainment dollars elsewhere -- or, more likely, people don't have nearly as many entertainment dollars to spend. In fact, if you look at the chart in the article -- the HUGE drop-off for jazz was from 2007 to 2008. Otherwise, sales seemed a bit more flat, though declining somewhat over those years. Nothing else dropped as fast or as far as jazz during the last year that the data in the chart shows. The stores buy the stuff (the labels can't just insert them) and they buy material customers have been buying. Every cd you see for sale on-line is available to the stores if they just decide to buy it. The stores have made a business choice and didn't buy what you were looking for. This is not the label's decision. Have I used the word clueless yet?

Most of the Prestige reissues couple 2 lps per disc. I just want to add I have a soft spot for Willis' recordings with Bill Jennings - I like the playing and the tune selection.

You have no idea how important it is to see some graph telling me why my business sucks. My sales have plummeted, even from members of this site. I will spend over $X0,000 in the next 4 months to issue more material from my catalog and expect minimal sales. I'm doing it 'cause I want the best possible versions of my stuff available. I will have one 2 disc set and 2 single cds before the end of the year. Kind of hard to risk my money beyond that. Rooster don't have a clue. Thanks.

At least 3 well filled cds on Prestige and more stuff on Muse. I was at the Muse session when they recorded Single Action at Rudy's.
