  1. "For Example - Workshop Freie Musik 1969-78", record 1 "Soloists" FMP The soloists are Lacy, Rutherford, Reichel, Honsinger, Van Hove, Bailey, Mangelsdorff and Dyani. Moved on to record 2 "Groups" Schlippenbach Trio Brotzmann/Van Hove/Bennink + Mangelsdorff Frank Wright Unit Schweizer-Carl Quartet
  2. Mostly. Clint Eastwood issued Hartman.
  3. Maybe they pulled it from the Mosaic set.
  4. Despite your protestations, you be much jumpier at 13-17. Music encountered during this period "imprints" and it is up to the recipient to allocate importance. I have youthful weaknesses for Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and even Timi Yuro. Never started a thread about this stuff 'cuz I know (and accept) what it is.
  5. Back in the'80s Doyle was a "nothing". Charles Tyler was giving the records away. That's how I got mine. Doubt if there were more than 500 pressed - more likely 300.
  6. Yes, that's what I said. I'd feel better about your musical judgements if they weren't from your "hormone" period.
  7. Now, why should I play detective? This is about music good/bad/indifferent/misdirected/etc.
  8. FWIW The JazzFactory double CD releases gives all 3 dates (March 30, April 1 and May 31, 1953) for the recordings. I think the May date is bogus. I knew Bob Andrews a bit and remember asking him about the date. I think he said it was recorded "on one or two nights".
  9. Heroin overdose did it JR Monterose told me a combination of junk and alcohol did him in. He said he and Sonny were junk "partners" - JR said Sonny "nodded off" with a gallon jug of wine on his finger and when he woke up he struggled to pull it off his (now swollen) finger and had a heart attack. That is what JR told me in 1964 or 5.
  10. Globe Unity "Intergalactic Blow" Japo
  11. Globe Unity "Compositions" Japo Globe Unity "Improvisations" Japo
  12. You have the "need".
  13. Miles can/could go where he wanted. I don't have a need to admire his choices.
  14. Cleveland
  15. I never said Miles "sold out". I do think he wanted "fame" equal to the big rock folks and think he made some stupid choices on his journey to get there. He could do some things "better" than they could and they could do some things he couldn't. This is not an even exchange. Not to mention the things they couldn't. I think it's a shame he wanted to go there.
  16. We be in different worlds. On this one, yeah. But it's just one world among many. Hope there aren't too many more.
  17. What I said. If you have a good time, go for it.
  18. We be in different worlds.
  19. Some of Cellar Door and some of Agartha. A few other spots too. My problem is how thin the music became, meaning I have to listen to a bunch of shit to get to stuff I care for. This was not a problem with Miles earlier. Don't have to do with style but with content.
  20. Globe Unity "Pearls" Globe Unity "Into the Valley" vol 2 up next, Globe Unity 73 "Live in Wuppertal" All FMP lps.
  21. This post was half in jest, but nobody came back. Did I hit a nerve? Just trying to discover everybody's POD.
  22. I still think this stuff wouldn't be boxed if the name wasn't Elvin. He was a master drummer but too many of the "name" dates don't do it for me.
  23. Result of promos?
  24. I think young kids would "get" Ayler before most parents. Always curious I dropped Nuits de La Fondation Maeght, Vol. 2 on the turntable and asked my 5 year old for her critical opinion. "I think I like Joan Jett better" She has a soft spot for the chick rockers, le tigre, sleater kinney ect... that's her mothers influence. Wrong record.
