  1. I know I've posted this before but it is still a favorite.
  2. Not all of the applause is studio fakery.
  3. Does this mean none of you are hiding eggs tonight?
  4. Might be Steve Jobs' favorite color.
  5. Torb Holm Milo Helland Alfred Jacobson Complete nessa catalog to anyone linking these.
  6. That is true until sometime around the last part of the '70s when the labels were only "Black Lion" markings on the records.
  7. That's probably 'cause you bought the shitty US pressings made by Audio Fidelity. In Europe they were pressed variously by Polydor/Polygram in England, RCA in France and Sonopress in Germany. There may have been others but that's what I remember.
  8. Can we book a room for you guys?
  9. This reminds me of the Alan Shorter Verve lp. They only pressed promos and by accident I was in the pressing plant on the day that happened. For interested parties, they were pressed by the Chess plant in Chicago. They did a bunch of work for MGM/Verve in those days.

    Don Ellis

I think the best way to approach his work is chronological. Small groups/sideman gigs, early PJ big band sides and proceed thru the Columbias as far as your brain will take you.
  11. I'm sure none of the males here would ever have a relationship with a "fucked up female".
  12. At least be polite Connie.
  13. Mike, the 8000 series was mono. The stereo issues were in the 9000 series. The first 3 sessions you list were not on the original Candid and originate from Cadence (the parent label).
  14. Foolish argument. Think about it. This isn't really about music. It is about youth sociology and markets.
  15. No to the K2 question. There is a link in the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
  16. How did I already guess this?
  17. Steve Brown; born New Orleans, LA, 1890. I think he was trying to look smart referenceing the Whiteman/Goldkette bassist. At least he knows the music pre-dates the '50s. So does Ari tuck his instrument under his chin?
