  14. I bought the first recording I saw of "Rudepoema" after reading Herbie's notes 40 years ago. David Bean on a budget Victrola, IIRC. What became of him? Time for a Google I guess.
  15. I have not heard the cds but had all the material on Atlas lps from Japan. They are clearly (and clinically recorded in the Japanese manner). Much of the music is first rate and the sound will please.

  17. I ain't gonna jump into this one now. FWIW, there's also South side and West side blues and they are both Black.
  18. It's a racial/societal thing. South side = Black, North side = White. Generally it is either side of the Loop (central business area) but legally/geographicly/numerically the dividing line is Randolph Street.
