  6. FWIW - The way I see it, creative thinkers piss people off some of the time (comes with the territory), dullards piss people off most of the time and the rest glide through. I'd be disappointed if this became a site for gliders.
  7. ABSOLUTELY! What can I send you?
  8. Someone must have declared an "idiot festival" and che and cornie went wild.
  9. I think it is wonderful Kevin can't find his old posts.
  10. If CA is still online, he should go to the Chicago Reader. Please report back.
  11. GregK, I suggest you start a new misc.non-political thread to ask this question. I'm sure you will get a bunch of advise.
  12. I thought it was a snooze. Bought it around 1960. Spose everyone should have the option, but......................
  13. Unless I missed it, no mention of Havergal Brian - another really interesting English "nut-case". I currently have 8 of his symphonies - used to have more on vinyl.
  14. Sometimes emotions jump from thread to thread leaving some readers in the dark. I have done this myself.
  15. Couple of Swanson chicken pot pies, Ore-Ida fries, Pepsi and a Crispy Creem.
  16. Nonaah. For the uninitiated, this is pronounced No, Nay, Ah. Accent on the second.
  17. STUPID CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The point of the post was "supposed to be" the blues band story. Phillip Wilson was working for Otis Rush and hired a sub so he could work a session with the Roscoe Mitchell Quartet. This was not a gig (no money involved), but a session in the Reynolds Club at the U of C. The sub didn't show and his name is Thurman Barker. Thurman is a very fine drummer and friend, but I have never had the nerve to ask him about this.
  18. After a prompt from Sangrey, I will post about this. I first met Davey (as he was called then) in the mid sixties when some musician friends convinced him to transfer from Northwestern to the University of Iowa. The reason for the transfer was to replace JR Monterose (soon to depart) in the local club band. I later ran into Davey in St. Louis at a Mitchell Quartet concert at Washington University, Graham Chapel. The concert was on Saturday, March 25, 1967. Davie was "freakin'". I know his early influnces were Hank Crawford, Oliver Lake, (most importantly) Julius Hemphill and lastly RM. That is what he told me. For Gene Dinwiddie, I'll rely on my memories.
  19. I'll take Miss Cake.
  20. When I lived there they were called Golden Nuggets - did something change?
  21. My next shipment will be the Fats Waller Centennial set. For some odd reason they listed this as a single cd.
  22. I have this as well. It's about 3/4 of an inch thick.
