This is really disturbing. This is not an aborted session. I have all the material and hoped to issue it some day. Roscoe and Alvin control the rights. Can anyone produce a source?
My recollection is that most of those other Verve limited release CDs (whatever that series was called) were also 5000 worldwide each, and those were all available for quite some time (except that Marquis de Sade Lalo Schifrin).
But heck I just bought the Waldron/Lacy and Burrell, and soon I'll get the Art Endemble and Clifford Thornton discs.
Unlike the "domestic" Verves, these originate from Universal France. It is my understanding 2500 were available in Europe, 1000 for the US and the balance for the rest of the world.
I watched my "in stock" items dwindle until Sunday when only 2 weren't backordered - and the Braxton dbl was listed as last copy. I cancelled the order and reordered from J&R.
Shitload of 6 hr sessions here - budget dates without many chances for second takes. Best deal those guys could get at the time and they did the best they could - 'cept for rehearsals at their own expense. Paycheck time.
Please consider that on his own, CC might not have a concept to bring off a date of his own by then.
It's alway fun to look for bad guys, but sometimes the truth is more mundane.
I'm with Jazz Kat.
Been trying to move files from an old windows 95 machine to my new device - shit be happnin' all over the place (files going AWOL, etc). I would explode if music was in the friggin' background.
Music is for LISTENING.
Somehow I missed this AOW post 'til now. It is an amazing group of recordings.
Do we want to discuss the black/white conflicts implicit in this date? It is a huge question with resonance continuing today.
