This is an amazing collection. I read many of the pieces at the time but the way they are arranged gave me a new perspective.
I've known LK since 1967/8 when he phoned me to talk about a recording I made.
Any music "fan" wishing to have their understanding challenged needs this book.
Holy CRAP (or is it carp?), the board goes down, it finally comes back, we have to leave for a political rally, return and a bunch of birthdays happen.
All the best Chris.
Some years ago a musician friend told me he'd recently recorded a date for ECM and related this story. During the date Eicher told him something like "on the next take have the sax player use flute". He told Manfred it was his music and his band and he would decide what instrument was needed. My friend told me it didn't matter since Manfred made it sound like a flute in the mix. I related the story to Michael Cuscuna and he repeated it to a writer who published it in a magazine. The musician in question received enough pressure he wrote a letter to the mag denying the entire story.
here I am again, left out in the cold. I was hoping some team from the Negro Leagues would be playing the Black Sox. History and sociology collide in PROFESSIONAL sports. For you little kiddies, that is not sport at all.
