  1. I said the same thing to my uncle once and he had a classic response: "You're old when you have followed a players whole playing career, watched them eventually become a manager, move on to a few teams, and than finally retire." He had a great point because I don't feel so old anymore!
  2. Stan Kenton: The Complete Capitol Recordings of the Holman & Russo Charts
  3. I have a feeling he doesn't understand the market value of the sets, but instead decided the amount for each set so he could reach a goal near two grand. I mean who, that was knowledgeable, would have the starting bid of the Mulligan set higher then either of the Vee Jay sets?
  4. Those were the two titles I had the most interest in. I have been searching for Chu Berry sides since the late 1990s, when Fred Anderson told me that he was one of his favorite saxophonists. I have the Classics single CD, but have wanted more. I think this set will go a long way in remedying that need.
  5. The Complete Maynard Ferguson on Roulette I am two CDs into this set and I am having a blast!
  6. I had forgot how much fun this music is! Too bad one of the disc's is acting up. Now I am playing the Shorty Rogers- Complete Atlantic and EMI Jazz Recordings.
  7. I just finished shoveling this morning, now my time is to be spent with: The Complete Roulette Live Recordings of Count Basie and His Orchestra (1958-1962)
  8. The first set I bought was the Complete Candid Recordings of Charles Mingus, on CD, though my mother had the Biograph and Crossroads sets in the house when I was a teenager.
  9. Mosaic now has the Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions (#170) & The Classic Columbia Condon Mob Sessions (#206) set's listed as Running Low.
  10. Charles Lloyd Of Course, Of Course The first few times I played it I was disappointed that it didn't have the same energy as Discovery! This time, I am hearing the music with fresh ears and without any preconceived expectations. Now, I am really enjoying this CD!
  11. The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Art Blakey's 1960 Jazz Messengers Disc 4
  12. Happy Birthday!!
  13. [quote name='John L' date='Dec 11 2006, 08:29 AM' post='590179' Speaking of Hip-0-Select, is anybody familiar with the post-Motown David Ruffin albums that are now available?
  14. Thank you for responding. Did you hear any significant sound improvement over previous issues of the material?
  15. Did anyone buy this set?
  16. Thank you for posting these month by month lists. I didn't even know some of these people had passed away.
  17. One of my all-time favorite CDs.
  18. Can anyone that has this set tell me if the music is comparable to Live from Los Angeles?
  19. To my ears the CD issue (with the cover of Sly performing live) sounds like most of the 1980s CD reissues that were not cleaned up, where the original LP seems to sound much less muffled, with highs and lows in the mix.
  20. I am happy to hear they are remastering "Riot." My LP copy sounds much better than the CD issue that is presently available.
  21. All the music, but the 2nd disc, was new to me.
  22. Bob Brookmeyer: Mosaic Select Just finished disc two, now on to disc three
