  1. That's how I want to go. Dumped in dessert.
  2. (Speaking as an admirer of Jason Moran and Vijay Iyer), I'd put great weight on Larry's opinions, since he is lucky enough to live in Chicago with its amazing homegrown scene and frequent visits by international heavyweights that he hears more great new music in a week than the rest of us in a year. Seriously, reading Downbeat today about the Umbrella Festival, Chicago jazz-wise sounds like Florence in the 15th Century.
  3. Amir El Saffar at the Freer Gallery (or was that 2009?).
  4. I was hoping the Sandman would dance him off.
  5. Didn't you have that problem last year, too? Same house?
  6. It's really true, there is way too much music being made, most of it, like most of anything, bad.
  7. Wow, someone came out and said it! I quite liked "Could You Be The One" and bought "Warehouse" on the strength of it, but never got it. Same with Jesus and Mary Chain. I got it then but now I don't. SUCK IT HATAZ Husker Du were one of the best bands of the 80s and you can fuck the Replacements and Sonic Youth.
  8. No free re-downloads? I have been doing this all the time at work when I want something to listen to. I just might cancel, since I thought this was Emusic's big advantage over other download stores. I have too much to listen to anyway.
  9. Han in a tux!!!! Re: not knowing Dutch--you, Clifford, are so deep into this stuff you probably should have a passable knowledge of some of the European languages. I wonder how much information, insights, analysis, etc. I miss about my favorite artists because my German is weak, and my French and Italian is at the level of a four-year-old. There's so much "jazz" literature that doesn't get translated.
  10. I'm amusing myself with the thought of Sean Hannity's theme song being "accidentally" replaced with the Comsat Angels' "Independence Day."
  11. We here, at organissimo, are single-handedly keeping the US Postal Service in business.
  12. I was there too! But I wouldn't know my fellow O-Board people from Adam. I was in the second row.
  13. The story behind the even at the chateau is pretty interesting...it sounds like almost a g-rated Hermann Nitsch "aktion" (now THERE'S a collaboration that should have happened--the Duke writing music for animal sacrifice and orgies).
  14. I endorse more baffling/funny posts like this one. From anyone!
  15. (2x) Ass, titties, ass 'n titties Ass ass titties titties, ass 'n titties
  16. If you see my posts above, spanning the last few years, CODA has been dead as a doornail since 2008.
  17. On a tiny CD, I thought that shot was at an airport arrival hall, and so the cover, along with the album title, would make sense. Now that I see the maid lurking in the background, I don't know what to believe.
  18. "Guy Hands", heh heh.
  19. (I don't know if this belongs in the Buying/Selling forum. Mods please move where appropriate). I have one electronic ticket available to the Saiyuki Trio w/ Rudresh Mannathappa at the Maison Francaise in Washington DC November 13 (that's this Saturday). It is an email ticket, and as far as I know is able to be transferred. (The French Embassy will check your ID upon entrance, but they'll let you in even if you are not on the advance list). I paid $35. Make me an offer!
  20. OH NOOO IT's A FAKE!!!
  21. How about somebody volunteer to buy this from the Andorran pirates and then send rips around?
  22. There are only two intact buildings on he block left: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Paul%27s+CDs&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl
