  1. imho, mose' (mose's?) finest studio effort in decades. far more realized and empathetic than any of the blue notes. precise, sharp, well-recorded. i was skeptical as i'm not usually a big fan of his non trio sides, but this record is superb.
  2. NO WAY! But with a 25 minute playing time (due to the time restraints of hexagon shaped vinyl)....
  3. excellent. i've got a prize for you. bring your wallet and turntable...
  4. ...nor do we spell all real good. we shoot first and ask questions later.
  5. just sold this on ebay. the sound quality is truly horrendous...
  6. i think you know i am...
  7. the kenny g of the andrea bocelli set. the good news is the shrink wrap's intact, so some lucky retailer will be exchanging it out for me.
  8. the equivalent of coal in my stocking. josh groban : "noel" wtf?
  9. word! that track is sweetness. he also produced at least one ronnie foster date...
  10. ain't it a bitch when S M O O T H doesn't list tracks...?
  11. check the bethlehem material. especially 'sings fred ataire' and 'california suite" which is, to my mind, a great concept recording. swinging as hell.
  12. i don't think you need to know any more than the above, really...
  13. looks familiar...
  14. The Viennese jazz legend Joe Zawinul is heavily sick. The 75 year old treated at present in the Wilhelminenspital. There is however no mortal danger, as confirmed by the hospital.
  15. dunno how many people are hip to it, but i love the alice clark record. sound samples here.
  16. the jarrett and corea is gone. "return to forever" is still available.
  17. i'm selling a new, never worn, limited edition ecm coverart t-shirt in size xl from the japanese store uniqlo. it comes with a bi-fold certificate card detailing the label and the recording. on the lower right of the shirt is small box with the name of the artist, title of the recording, catalog number of the recording, and name of the art director. it is very well made, perfect for summer, and not to be reproduced. i'm asking what i paid for it; $16.00, plus a reasonable $3.00 for postage within the continental u.s. i'm happy to send it abroad with adjusted postage at cost. below is an image of the remaining shirt (corea's "piano improvisations", jarrett's "standards live", and "return to forever").
  18. i enjoy naruse so much that i own 'when a woman ascends the stairs'. i competely agree with the original post about the score (which is under utilized, imho). the first time i saw the film i swore it was mjq as well. of course during that era, and still to this day to varying degrees, japan has musicians that follow paths set down by the archetypes of jazz. great film nonetheless...
  19. sound samples, that actually work (!), here...
  20. save your clams for a cambridge audio azur 740c ...
  21. wow! as well as 'a man called adam'...!

  23. time to exhale, jim... (and everyone else, for that matter)
