I don't want to rehash this or hijack this thread, but I've got a question. I was looking through my collection and noticed that I didn't have Miles Davis and John Coltrane: The Final Tour. I'm assuming I didn't buy it because I already had some prior version. I assume the material in that volume was previously released. Was it? What were the titles? Thanks.

That was a hard no... Because most of it has been previously released? What's the diff with the Japanese and US versions? How could 90% of it be previously released, when they're saying it's 4 hours of newly released.

I'm listening to Rambling Boy right now (again). Charlie had a beautiful voice. He was a gift. As I said when I started this thread - I miss him.

The Left Hand of God from Quartet West's Now is the Hour. Makes me cry every time.

I miss him. I was so lucky to have seen him perform 5-10 times. I truly loved Quartet West and the Liberation Music Orchestra.

This version of America The Beautiful always makes me cry. This was and is one my favorite records. I miss both Brecker and Charlie.

So the festival is next weekend. I made a mistake getting a 3-day pass as the lineup is really terrible (in my opinion). I'll probably just go on Saturday. Another question... Are these Jubilee sessions precursors to the JATP sets as the Storyville release says? How similar? How different?

Okay ... can you guys dumb it down for me? We are talking about 4-5 boxed sets of material from Vanguard (a label?) and not the Village Vanguard and the V-Discs like the Ellington Treasury sets from Storyville. These would be recordings from the 40s and 50s. Is that right?

I've finally gotten around to listening to this set and I really like it. It's presented in a way that's similar to those Black Saint/Soul Note boxes that came out a decade or so ago. It was a fantastic price with many (seemingly) unreleased takes. .

I am still waiting for mine to ship. Is there any domestic folks (US) who have not gotten theirs yet?

Thanks. I didn't know this but one thing I did do was distribute it to about half a dozen different libraries (like a few hundred CDs to each). Hopefully, they won't end up getting sold.

I'm in my late 50s and found a solution that worked for me a few years ago. When my ex-wife wanted a divorce (and I conceded), I moved out instead of fighting about who was going to keep the house. I decided at that time to split my collection in half. Mosaics and artists I loved, I would keep the physical Cds. The rest went to numerous public libraries around me (Boston). I know no one really thinks about libraries and they are going out of existence but I felt... a) As long as public libraries exist, there will be people who use them and b) If I'm lucky.. long after I'm gone., some teenager will run across my CDs and get the jazz bug. Obviously, few of us rarely know when we are going to die, but I will probably tell my daughter to do the same when I'm gone.
