  1. The sale is still going on today after Prime Day.. I might have to grab this one at this price...
  2. Sounds like basically... there's not a lot interest in this boxed set here... due to most of us having the CDs...?
  3. Hi.. I'm trying to find one of two things. Either the best box set of Nina Simone or some good live CDs. I came across a few versions/references to the Phillips Years set. One seems to be a 7CD set from Verve in 2016 and the other a 4CD set from 2003 Four Women. Which is the better set? What's the difference? Sound qualities? thanks.
  4. I only have one of these cds. I have to look at the discography more... especially who the key players are. It's the maybe bucket.
  5. I listened to this yesterday. Outstanding. I have no idea how many times McCoy performed there but they could have easily turned this into a multi-disc set. The odd thing is I think it clocks in at 84 minutes. I'm inclined to get the Modern Jazz Quartet one as well.
  6. Does anybody know anything about this? Is Sound of Yesteryear a legit label that pays royalties to the family or this European public domain stuff? Or just a ripoff? I've seen a lot by that label but know nothing about them. Thanks. https://www.importcds.com/monitor-blues/5019317022891
  7. I'm inclined to grab this one but it seemed to me like the sample track sounds like they're in a hallway...
  8. I'm getting the sense this has not been released before. Is this blurb accurate? Anybody got any opinions on it? I'm inclined to get it since Importcds does have a cd version not just the vinyl. https://elusivedisc.com/nina-simone-youve-got-to-learn-lp/ https://www.importcds.com/nina-simone-youve-got-to-learn/602455644633
  9. So does anyone have a link to the site it' selling on?
  10. I agree with all of you in that they should have released all at once, assuming there's more. The Michel Petrucciani that was just released is excellent but I also wish that was a multi-cd set.
  11. I'm just curious about what you guys think. What's the best book on Nat? Thanks.
  12. Wtf? Who is this? IS that a bass clarinet?
  13. I miss him. I wish Mosaic had a bunch of unreleased live stuff from him.
  14. Thanks... I'm totally on the fence with this one... Importcds has the cd set on sale for slightly less than $60.
  15. Personally, I've wanted and been lobbying for a Betty Carter set for years. I would also LOVE a Geri Allen set... The stuff she did with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian was excellent. I recently came across an "Unissued Tracks" set from one of their Village Vanguard dates... https://diwproducts.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-village-vanguard-unissued-tracks
  16. I would recommend a different method. Assuming you have your library organized the way you want it (on your Windows PC)... in Itunes, go to File and Import. It will ask you for a destination (e.g., where is the library you're moving it from) and just let it do its thing. How extensive is your library? As I mentioned previously I would screenshot it before your import so you know exactly what you have.
  17. I did before it came out and they said they have no plans for CD.
  18. I tolerated the Ernie Andrews piece but that was the downside.
  19. Try this.... https://shirleyscott.bandcamp.com/album/queen-talk-live-at-the-left-bank?label=2348701163&tab=artists
  20. Ultra Studio is overkill in my opinion. Even a lot of the tech reviewers I trust on Youtube are like... "I will never use all the power in this thing..." not to mention the price... I have the Mac Studio base model and it's more than enough....
  21. Listened to it in the car...Excellent.. Wish it was longer with maybe another set...
  22. I just don't get why so much live material is ONLY available by buying vinyl.
  23. One other point... I don't know which Mac the OP purchased (or if it was new)... but two years ago Apple started producing machines with their own chips (called Apple Silicon instead of Intel). These machines (Macbooks, Imac and Mac Studio) are MUCH better than the Intel models. If the OP has an M1 or M2 they should be fine for a while. If they purchased an Intel model, I'd return it and get an M1 or M2.
  24. Okay... to the OP... Unfortunately, I have a lot to say about this as I did it years ago. Like many of us, I've got tons of stuff. Originally I had 4000 Cds which I had burned to digital mp3s. I have to suggest a few things NOT to do. To me the essential things in order are... 1) Have multiple backups. 2) DO NOT subscribe to Apple's Itunes Match service EVER. It completely screwed up many of my boxed sets and imports as Apple uses the titles/cover art/discographical info on its servers. In cases like our music and probably classical... It gets that info wrong a lot and it overwrites whatever was originally entered. 3) I would also NOT subscribe to Apple Music (even when there are free trials). Yes, it lets you play whatever you want and I've found that helpful in deciding whether or not I want to buy a new release BUT...... Once you've downloaded something from Apple Music it becomes very difficult (at least for me) to remember what I purchased or what I "borrowed" from Apple Music. I'm already down that rabbit hole and have become kinda obsessive about not downloading stuff from that store unless I purchased it. 4) Once you've managed to do the migration, in Itunes click on the View tab, scroll down, and select "Show Status Bar." That will show the totals of what you have. I took a screenshot of mine a year or so ago, so I always knew what the right size was... (see attached). 5) DO NOT use another program like Amazon Music... (That compounded my problem).... Write down your questions and try to find a really good person at the closest Apple store who's a music person. I've lost a fair amount of stuff with Apple's Itunes mess... but overall Mac is better than Windows.
