Bud Shank and Bob Cooper Select... Disc 1... Very nice so far!! THIS IS REALLY GOOD!! How come no one talks about this set?? I even remember I think it got dissed at one point.... For my take...

Do the Rich... I seem to be the only one on the board who bought and does NOT like the Columbia Swing Sessions....

despite the strong opinions... I did not have any Rich and was curious when it first announced.. so I got the Buddy and Sweets CD to check it out... (Knowing that this would on the set... I figured an $8 investment was a good idea to decide if I wanted to spend $130 on the set...) I was VERY pleased with that one CD... so I took the plunge.. I suspect I will enjoy the set....

Just preordered the Mulligan Songbooks select... and while I was in a Mosaic mood... I've been holding onto $100 in gift cards (b-day present)... and finally GULP!! coughed it up and ordered the Mulligan Concert Jazz Band set and the Bud Shank/Cooper Select... Ahh.... Tell me I did the right thing??? I was desperately holding onto the $100 cause I had the fear that Mosaic would come out with something I couldn't resist and couldn't afford... (e.g, - Hypothetical - The Lost Live Recordings of Michel Petrucciani.... or a Lee Mogran Live at the VIllage Vanguard...something that like that... ) and it would be a 10 CD set..... BUT I just caved.... If anyone regrets buying those PLEASE let me know ASAP... I can still cancel the order...!!!!

okay so now I'm confused... What's left that won't be on the Songbook Select set... (and that's 3CD's) not 4....? FYI.... Just ordered the Select.... Coming out in January according to the website... (whch means February...)

(I would suspect that it has but I can't find any info on it...) Was this a part of the 18CD Mosaic set??? 2) Is this just his trio? Or other configuration? 3) Why isn't this being released as a Select or something? here's the only info I've found... "....Nat's next break came when he was used as the instrumental accompaniment to an Ink Spot style group called 'The Deamers'. He also made recordings for the Davis & Schwegler label as well as various transcription recordings for radio use only, mainly as backing for various girl singers of the time such as Maxine Johnson, Bonnie Lake, Juaneleda Carter, Anita O'Day, Anita Boyer etc. as well as many vocal and instrumental recordings in their own right. Between 1938 and 1941 Nat was to record some 200 transcription recordings, the majority of which have never been commercially issued. One of these was SWEET LORRAINE, a song which was to become synonymous with Nat King Cole and which he was to record many times.
