  1. Miles - Disc 1... The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions... (okay I'm cheating since technically since its the CD version and not the LP version, it's not a Mosaic release... ) I haven't listened to electric Miles in ages... I put this stuff on and forgot how good/evolutionary it was....
  2. Did you TRY calling Mosaic?? As most folks on this board will tell you.... they have a hx of GREAT customer service??? If you did talk to them.. I'd be curious what they told you... about the delay....?
  3. this is ALL getting outta control... Could EVERYONE Just chill out...!!! It is way too HOT all over the country to be flippin' everybody off.... Ah, stuff it man. SS1 should learn to control himself as much as tatifan. It is pretty crappy to stumble on nontopical posts all of the time. May this very post be an example. ←
  4. Assuming my understanding is correct... Mosaic has a license to sell ## number of sets and the license only last so many years... So they may sell 7500 or sold until the license runs out (whichever comes first).... The other interesting question which some board vets may know the answer to... Is which Mosaic sets sold out (e.g., all 5000/75000 gone) BEFORE the license exprired...? If I had to guess which ones went OOP before the license expired...???? Probably... Nat King Cole set.... Lee Morgan 50's session, and ??? It seems to me these days... most of the licenses expire before they reach their limit... And obviously some sets (e.g., Four Freshman and Mildred Bailey)... ain't selling no 5000 copies... no matter how long the license is... Unless Bill Gates has a Mildred Bailey fetish....
  5. giving the JJ set another spin... Disc 6... after all the freaking out now that its about to go OOP... have to give it another listen.... Haven't listened to this in a long time..... Okay... it's a lot better than I remember... At least Disc 6....
  6. I completely agree.... maybe this national heat wave has finally cracked its way onto Organissimo.... FYI on the O'day set...I also bought some work of her pre-and post the Mosaic set... (40's and the 70's) and it doesn't compare.... the 70's stuff sounds pretty off... but you'll be the best judge... thanks for calming reminder....
  7. Bob Brookmeyer Select.. Disc 2.... nice....
  8. I concur.... As the thread starter... Phew!!!!! Why do I feel like if I buy this set...???? One of three things will happen... Either 1) I will LOVE it, sell my CD collection and decide I want to have a mid-life crisis and come back as the long-lost love child of Buddy Rich.... OR 2) I will HATE it, and at the 1st drum solo...start ten organissmo rants about how this set is WORSE than the Dinah Washington train wreck and HOW DARE YOU PEOPLE NOT WARN ME!! OR 3) It will have it's moments (good and bad) and will be in the middle of pack re: My Mosiac sets.... Why do I feel like I need a drink after this thread????
  9. thanks... and I think the CD set is different....
  10. so JS... should I assume that you will NOT buy the set?
  11. should I assume that Rich Versus Roach will NOT be on this set? Since it's still in print and its on Mercury?
  12. can I get the George Shearing Mosiac set discography posted (cd version)???? thanks
  13. thanks for that... but here's a more specific question.... Is there any Buddy Rich small group stuff (still in print on CD) that's out there tthat WON'T be in the Mosaic set??? (I'd like to avoid buying doubles if I do like the single cd.....) You can get a sample: Buy one of these: Blues Caravan Buddy and Sweets Both are easily obtained, and I'm pretty sure both will be in the set. If you like them, then buy the set. If not, then at least you haven't spent a ton of money. Personally, I like both quite a bit, at least, the parts where Buddy's not soloing. ←
  14. Don Pullen Select - Disc 2... still Don't know why it took me so long to buy this???
  15. Good man!!!!!!!11
  16. Wow... Js... You go.. taking names and kicking behind!!!! Phew!!! One of the interesting things is that I haven't heard this much disagreement about a musician since a Wynton rant.... This has got me even more intrigued.... Lawd help us when we find out who's doing the remastering on this... Talk about disagreement.... But I am intrigued.... I wish I could get a taste or sample of this before deciding to buy....
  17. why do you say it's an odd choice?
  18. ignoring that ignorant last comment... Do you think the "Rich vs. Roach" album will be on the set? I assume it's almost always been in print???
  19. Don't have anything by him. He wasn't really on my radar screen (I knew who he was) BUT.... the co-stars listed in the Mosaic set is awesome... "....performances that paired him with 'Sweets'Edison, Benny Carter, George Auld (ts), Thad Jones, Joe Newman, Ben Webster, Frank Wess, Oscar Peterson, Sonny Criss, Jimmy Rowles, Barney Kessel, Frank Rosolino, Bob Cooper. Added to this is his live Miami album on Verve with Flip Phillips...." I'm intrigued.... So what's the scoop you wise men.... (Do we have any active women on this board?)...? Who's getting it? Who's not? Why? thanks
  20. Ewwww..... I'm not exactly sure why, but that picture kind of turns me on. I love cooking almost as much as I love jazz. ←
  21. I'm with you on that one... Got my eyes on the Oliver Nelson, McCoy, Tony W., Mulligan.. and MAYBE even the Rich... Anyway I spend next year's tax refund (now - without telling my wife)?
  22. website tunes sound fantastic... I'm juiced to get this stuff (and I didn't get 3,000 hits or 500 homers...
  23. Just curious.... Do you NOT like OP in general or just this session? Oscar Peterson's unnecessary busy playing spoiled that album for me. ←
