  1. As far as I know, Columbia/Legacy 65117 (released on April 29, 1997) is the most recent reissue.
  2. Happy birthday.
  3. Have a great day!
  4. Porcy62's link was also in clickable form, at least on my computer.
  5. brownie, I think you and I are about the same age, so believe me, I understand. ... but I think we're still on #19 here. That's what you get when you're forward-looking...
  6. I've read that Bill (and Miles) got more than a little flak from black audiences who didn't like the fact that a white man was holding down the piano chair in Miles' band. His bandmates (notably Cannonball) defended him, but he could only take so much of that. That, and the fact that he wanted to lead his own trio.
  7. Here's an earlier Irène Schweizer thread.
  8. The track on "Milestones" called: Sid's ahead. That's what Brownie said a few posts back...
  9. I have a problem with the Schweizer solo albums mentioned in my earlier post because her playing sometimes sounds mannered to me in a way that's hard for me to describe. Her Chicago solo album is much more spontaneous to my ears. In my opinion the first few lines of the review of the Piano Solo albums in the seventh edition of the Penguin Guide hit the nail on the head: "Schweizer is not a natural unaccompanied performer. The most communicative of players, she needs no one to play against, but she simply functions better in an environment where there is an element of interchange and reciprocity." The review is favorable, by the way.
  10. Forgot about that one. It is one of her better solo albums in my opinion.
  11. I can recommend the albums Schweizer recorded with Pierre Favre: Irène Schweizer & Pierre Favre - Intakt CD 009 Ulrichsberg - Intakt CD 084 but I'm not convinced by her solo albums: Many and One Direction - Intakt CD 044 Piano Solo, Vol.1 - Intakt CD 020 Piano Solo, Vol.2 - Intakt CD 021
  12. Irène Schweizer discography on AMG.
  13. Good to hear from you, Alison. All the best, and hang in there!
  14. JSngry has said all I can think of to say. Same here. Count me in as well, Jim, and everybody else here, I'm sure. Absolutely.
  15. Didn't you know his boss is one of those "anonymous members" here?
  16. Congratulations, Paul, and good luck finding a new job. By the way, what's "NASD"? (I'm a simple European, so...)
  17. 18. I avoid sellers who only accept Bidpay payments; in my experience they're very expensive and take several days to clear.
  19. I heard him in the mid-1970s in Groningen, Netherlands, with Milt Buckner on piano and others. He was great. Before and after the show I taped an interview with him; unfortunately, I don't know who has the tapes.
  20. According to JC Pete Jolly died on Saturday at the age of 72. Sad news.
  21. ...and many happy returns.
  22. Makes you wonder what? I'm a simple guy, so please explain. Would some posts in the what are you listening to right now thread be sufficient to be allowed to sell or trade stuff? In that case you wouldn't be a newbie anymore, provided that you'd posted at least 10 times Ah, I see.

  24. I think it was rather funny what he did before posting here
