I've never had any problems ripping to external drives, my iTunes media folder has never been located on an internal drive. One of these days, I will take the time to figure this out I suppose. I use a Vortexbox to rip and serve music throughout the house. I go through phases where I am ripping multiple discs daily. iTunes has just become such a hassle for me that I've forgotten about it.

I rip discs to my server. iTunes has always been terrible for anything but ripping directly to the drive that the software is installed on, and of course buying music from iTunes. Two things I rarely do. I haven't intentional opened iTunes in a long while.

Let us know your impressions Kevin. Believe it or not y'all, there are plenty of us who don't already own everything, and plenty of us who are old enough to remember analog sound that grew up in a digital era. My entire CD collection is backed up to FLAC (which I rarely listen to), and we listen to a good mix of CD and LP. I haven't bought an mp3 in a long while. Used CDs are less expensive! I have found the physical object to be more convenient and enjoyable. I do preview albums often on Spotify in the car or while running on my phone. Strange Days. Whatever... there is a big market for new, quality LPs. $25 LPs are generally not priority for me, and I do have this music on CD, but I'm curious. -
JLH, Where do you have your CD wallets printed?

What Things Will You Not Like In Your Jazz?

That's got something to do with a thread here a few years ago about how some (most?) people can't recognise a well known song if it has different words; they don't pick up on the tune itself, even though they know it, or the instrumental intro, so when they do get to a point where it's recognisable, they applaud. I always thought this was peculiar, until I read that thread. MG She did a good job. I got all three pretty easily. -
It is absolutely impossible to predict the degree and extent of destruction that a hurricane or tropical storm can bring. It's part of being a resident of Coastal NC. Category determines whether you need to board your windows or not. If you live in the NW quadrant of the storm as it makes landfall, the sheer will be much more intense. The backside of the storm is generally more merciful. Gusts are more sustained. If the storm is moving slowly, rainfall amounts will be high. Where we are, rainfall plus wind means fallen trees, roof damaged, flooding (high water table, near sea level), downed power lines, etc. Urban areas are less prone to fallen trees, but will typically have poor drainage due to the large amount of impervious surfaces and will see flooding (rainfall plus storm surge in many cases). Y'all probably already know all of this because of the large amount of hurricane coverage and preparedness programming in the last decade. My advice is use common sense. If you have the means to make your situation safer, more convenient, more comfortable, do so. If the storm blows over, be thankful. This storm was 300 miles away at its closest point. It rained steadily for a couple of days and we had moderate winds 20-40mph, 10-12ft waves and extensive coastal erosion. This is a large storm. Not a particularly strong hurricane. My folks just told me it is now snowing in Richmond VA. This isn't a typical hurricane. I'm not suggesting you should fear for your life, but I am suggesting that things could get hairy, and you could be slightly uncomfortable for days afterward. Take your precautions. Help those that couldn't.
