The cover photograph is a big feature of these sets. I really hope Mosaic correct it.

Duke: The Complete Works 1924-1947
David Ayers replied to nmorin's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
First, Proper and History are unrelated. Second, Proper boxes are credited as "compiled and prduced for release by Joop Visser" and "digitally remastered by Peter Rynston". That, plainly, does not tell the whole story. -
I really like this LP. Those who want a copy should order the JRVG from Hiroshi Tanno NOW! It is good clear remaster, though the balance gives the trumpet too little prominence. You can certainly hear the bass though...

Ellington Reprise sold out!
David Ayers replied to David Ayers's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I wonder of Mosaic actually ran out of sets, or were contractually obligated to stop selling them? If the latter, I bet they would sell a copy over the phone. -
Mathis der Maler. Again. Hey why couldn't I 'edit' my post to correct my previous wrong spelling?
-
Ohhhhhh.... silly me. Serves me right for reading all the old rubbish that gets trawled up.

Didn't we have a whole thing here from mnytime's brother saying he was in a coma and about to die? I can't find any of it now as it seems to have been deleted. What was the outcome of all of that? No-one seems to have made any further reference to it.
-
OK I will admit to being more of a skimmer than a deep reader of this board.... BUT, someone has to help me out here. How come mnytime is posting here months after we all attended his funeral? No doubt this has all been discussed but I missed it and I feel a need to know...
-
Nice one. Thanks. Hey you got me going with the lurid promises of over-the-topness.

its gone...... hey why isn't there a little crying smiley?!?

What is your Faith???? (or lack thereof)
David Ayers replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
It shows you how close Unitarianism is to being secular! I came out as an Orthodox Quaker (which I am NOT...!). Or maybe I am... I believe in Belief-o-Matic! -
Too too good...

Looking for: John Patton "Let 'Em Roll" TOCJ
David Ayers replied to undergroundagent's topic in Offering and Looking For...
The JRVG of this will be issued in December - maybe an alternative? -
A word of caution on the Enrico Rava. I had this, found it underpowered, and sold it. It all sounds safe and a bit limp. Obviously Rudd fans who haven't heard it will seek it out, but I would suggest not paying too much for it...
-
Mohawk? Well, Rudd is co-leader, I suppose. One of my favorites of all time.

Are Back-Catalouge Euro RVGs Copy-Protected Too?
David Ayers replied to Gigolo's topic in Audio Talk
I suspect that any list won't be very stable, since it depends on distribution and that will vary from country to country. It seems likely that they press fairly short runs and don't hold huge numbers in warehouses, so we can imagine that the tide is going to roll over us very quickly. -
Are Back-Catalouge Euro RVGs Copy-Protected Too?
David Ayers replied to Gigolo's topic in Audio Talk
Uh... looks like ubu already confirmed it. It seems that new batches are having it added. Nice one. PS we should also note that gigolo's linked report from hi-fi.org seems to confirm that the copy protection system DOES impact on sound quality. -
Looking for Freeman/Twardzick on Pacific Jazz
David Ayers replied to bluesForBartok's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Or from Early Records - it will be cheaper. -
Are Back-Catalouge Euro RVGs Copy-Protected Too?
David Ayers replied to Gigolo's topic in Audio Talk
Hm... what is this huge wad of cash in my pocket? Oh yes... it is all the money I save by not buying EMI Jazz CDs any more. To be more serious... I haven't yet seen any old titles with Copy Protection added, and I am waiting to see further confirmation. -
When you say the middle of the country I think you are forgetting something... So, if it has to be the middle of the world... that would be Greenwich, just up the road from me. See you guys there an about an hour, say?
-
OUCH!! Keep us posted...
-
BNBB? What's that? Thanks Jim!!

The JRVG of True Blue has been reissued - time to drop Hiroshi Tanno a line, for those who don't have it.
