I cop to having the Lou Donaldson as I like his 50s stuff but surely not enough to shell out for the Mosaic, which is the only source for most of these records. I would not consider another one of these as the packaging is pathetic and the ethical implications are manifold.

Amazon Christmas money-- kind of hard finding stuff I wanted that was in stock there, but here's what I got: Schlippenbach Trio - First Recordings John Escreet Trio + Evan Parker - Sound, Space, Structures Dunmall/Grimes/Cyrille - Profound Sound Trio: Opus de Life Assif Tsahar - Code Re(a)d Jason Adasiewicz - From the Region and a Hank Mobley collection thing that is unmentionable hereabouts...

RIP. A good life but a sad loss.

Amiga LPs are always so tantalizingly cheap but always locked in the Czech Republic behind obscene shipping and dodgy mail and questionable payment services.

Wow, this thread ties together a lot of things I've thought about re: jazz & the indie rock press then (ca. mid-90s-early 00s) and now. More later, maybe. -
So why don't I own it? Something to remedy in 2015 Start saving! It's a tough one to find at a legitimate price.

I didn't know that. How sad. I was greatly enjoying his playing with Thomas Chapin last night, very intuitive.

Fantastic record.

I have a true soft spot for John Surman's solo records from the 80s, which feature a lot of soprano. I won't go so far as to call them a guilty pleasure since a) I don't believe in such a thing and b) I think the albums have reasonable musical value, but it's nonetheless an appreciation that I sense is not widely shared.

I do have it, plus I Am An Indian. Though it was a recent acquisition after many years of searching! But, of course, I need them all so now it's 2 down, 2 to go (s/t & An Hour With....)

Have fun. I can imagine that band rocks hard in person.

Seeing a pullback on this photo would probably be a mind-blower. I always assumed pretty absentmindedly that Jackie was on a sailboat until I looked closer and realized that he was probably on the roof of a building. But seeing the shot contextualized would be pretty incredible I'm sure.

I've been eyeing the reissue of that one. Seems foolish to ask you if its "worth" the $23...

One too many runs through "You, And The Night, and The Music". He finally cracked.

It's listed as an import, but I'm guessing the status will change when it comes out.

What live music are you going to see tonight?
colinmce replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Sounds like my kind of party. I really, really miss Chicago. -
It's well worth tracking down the CD which adds a brilliant suite of 1990 improvisations with Urs Leimgruber & Fritz Hauser. Oh, and please begin my funeral with the title track.

I saw that too. I sure hope CvsD does more Hats, especially the remaining 70s McPhees (Willisau Concert, Rotation, Graphics, and Tales & Prophecies). The Phillip Wilson/Olu Dara would be great as well. I have the Carroll on LP and it's very, very good. My guess re: Emanem is that more Lacy will come out, like Tips. I think the only other 70s date not reissued at some point is Stamps, but it seems to me the label sort of shies away from jazzier group things, so I wonder if something like that would happen. Other than that, it's hard to say because a lot of the obscure 70s titles are by French and Swiss players, whereas Emanem seems to stick more with the UK, US and Germany ...

New McPhee-Corsano CDR from their recent tour. There are some sets on YouTube that are real nice. http://www.discogs.com/Joe-McPhee-Chris-Corsano-Duo-Dream-Defenders/release/6178596
